I went to vaping, and never desired another cig. No problem for me although I smoked 3 packs a day. My mom and hubby still crave the cigarettes. For me it was so easy but they are having trouble. I would like to help them but I myself don't understand why they can't feel satisfied like me. If you can explain this to me maybe I can help them! They both have lung problems from smoking and I need to help if I can. Also I am new here and I don't know some of the lango what the heck is a tank? Everyone thanks for teaching me a thing or two. Loves the juice:unsure:

Everyone is different. Everyone's experience with addiction is different. I ordered a Riva kit for my mother several months ago and though she asked for it, she doesn't use it. I've put together her PV's, tried LR atomizers/cartomizers with her, filled them with high-nic juice...and it just doesn't do the trick. But nagging her or making her feel bad isn't going to help. It's her choice completely. I have told her many times that if she doesn't want to quit smoking, then she doesn't have to. I'm still wickedly addicted to nicotine. I may have been able to get off the cigarettes, but I don't think I'll ever get off the nicotine. Meanwhile I have a sister who quit smoking 5+ years ago with no nicotine replacement whatsoever and she doesn't understand why I can't just go cold turkey like she did.

They may need a higher nicotine content in their liquid than you do to feel satisfied. They may need to vape at higher wattage to better simulate the heat from an analog. Or it may be as Subversive said. Their addiction is different than yours.

Edit: You might also encourage them to make a slower transition. Many people are not able to simply make the switch from one to the other. They need to go through a period where they vape to cut down the amount they smoke before they're able to stop smoking entirely.

WELCOME, I'm happy you quit cigs and chose to come to this forum. Everyone is different and have to personally make that choice to transition for themselves. A person can only say so much but, if that person doesn't want to quit then there's not much that can be done. You can vape around them to get them accustomed to vaping. Maybe offer them a puff or two when they are out of cigs. Slowly, you can condition them to vape.

As for your question. There are two different types of tanks in which I'm going to give you visual examples. One is a CE2 tank, looks like this:

Simply put in your juice through the top, put your drip tip back on and your good to go. The idea is that the silica rope that's attached will feed the coil/ceramic cup. Although, there are flaws to the design overall. Which means you might have to invert it, in order to feed the coil on there.

Another type is a carto tank. Which is the most popular now. You either buy pre-punched cartos or do it yourself. As with the CE2 tank. Just put in some juice into the tank and then vape away. When you take a draw. It automatically keeps your carto wet.

The last type of tank is something like an EGO-T tank. There's an atomizer with a separate tank that can be attached. Just pop off the top for the tank. Place your desired juice in there, put the cap back on, and vape. It's very simple to operate. Helps if you take primer puffs as well

I'm in the same situation with my girlfriend. I was hooked at vape #1 and haven't even had a whisper of a thought to smoke. My girlfriend however finds that something is missing when she vapes. Though she has in fact quit cigs, she still craves them. I don't know what to tell her.

A tank is sort of a juice bottle wrapped around a cartomizer that keeps your carto wet with juice for an longer time than having just a carto.

Hi happiest in years. I'm so sorry it's not working out with your parents. I've converted over 25 people/ friends/ acquaintances and the toughest cases were those that were not open to the idea. Sadly something has to click with your parents before they decide to quit. On the bright side of things you yourself have been successful and possibly through your example they will eventually see the light. I've found, through experience, those that are addicted to something will not change until they're ready. Proudly know that you have broken the cycle. Here's a dictionary to help you sort out the definitions of all the Ecig gear. It is overwhelming.

Please take care and feel free to vent here at ECF as we all understand, support and empathize with you.

The first thing anyone needs before they can stop a habit is the desire to quit. No amount of logic or cajoling or persuasion will get past that.

I've had bad days when I wanted to chuck it all and smoke a cigarette, but I refuse to do so. I just pick up my PV and vape through it. This is what has kept me off the stinkies for 3 months.

Perhaps you have at least planted the seed and they will come around.

Everyone has different needs. They might need stronger PVs or conversely one of them may feel more comfortable wit a smaller one if they have a large one. They might each need different nicotine levels. Some new vapers NEED tobacco juice to be satisfied and some need to stay away from tobacco juices. Some want more vapor and some want more TH. Some people are comfortable with using gadgets and some are technophobes of anything more complicated than a remote control.

There is no one answer.

so many reasons why friends/relatives dont want to vape..high selling about the gadget dont seem to work or telling them the benefits of using one..so i just show them on every occassion to vape openly to them..so hopefully they can see and also from what i used to be,grumpy and lifeless be4..but now after 9 months in vapping,not-so-rosy-cheek but U could see my improvement in my health as i used to cough and spit out the phelgm that i cannot hold back infront of them be4..now i dont have this problem like i did on analogs..so hopefully if they are not convince by words..see in action is best..i rest my case if i am a lawyer, but i aint..hahah..happy vaping every1..hope the OP can get their love ones to vape instead of smoking...regards mafig ps might be helpful if U show them this post U started and the replies from us,vaporers p/p/s i am in my 60 and a smoker for 30+yrs..only a vaporer for 9 months & counting, wish i started when e-cig was invented

...I quit a 3ppd/40yr ADDICTION in 5 days...BUT, I wanted too and was primed to do so...it really is, all in the nature of what addiction to anything is all about...like the old saying goes, you can winch the horse into the pond but it doesn't matter how many 2x4s you break over their head, they will only drink when they are ready(or some such)...don't pester them but keep it in front of them(with a little subtlety)...they will "drink" when they are ready...............

This is a very good question. I thought everyone I know that smoked would jump on the idea once they saw that it worked for me. They all complained about smoking more than I did. They asked me to get them kits.

I don't get it. But who knows, when they're ready to try again it's there for them. I have to say none of the people I know 'do forums'. And I think that support in anything like this makes a huge difference.

To be honest, I still find that a little something is lacking, but all the benefits really outweigh that urge. Perhaps you should let them know that they can keep smoking while they are using their pv. The whole all-or-nothing mentality has really ruined a lot of my attempts with cessation programs. If I have a momentary relapse, I give up. However, I feel like the knowledge that I could have an analogue without destroying everything is really comforting. In fact, I had every intention of using my pv as a supplement rather than a replacement, but I found I couldn't stand the taste or the smell by the end of my first pack.

Harm reduction is a fantastic thing. Great first post, Grad. Welcome to ECF!

As several have stated, it depends on motivation. When I smoked I ALWAYS wanted to quit. I agonized over it all the time and quit 10 or 20 times. When all is said and done I consider the day I smoked my first cigarette the darkest day of my life.

It always amazes me when I meet people (usually younger) who just aren't that motivated. I don't have any easy explanation. A lot of it is denial I think of the damage it is doing.

For me there is no way an ecig will ever compare to a cigarette. But its good enough. And it doesn't have all the unpleasant side effects, so on the whole its a fair trade-off.

I agree, leave them be,,,, I thought my friends would have jumped on this too,,, but it's a mindset that needs to take place....

Funny enough I've not finished 3 days and have not completely off the the coffin nails and just know it's a matter of time for me.....

What I find odd - is this whole culture of when and how to do it, getting products etc, selling the idea to people..... it's like it has some legal side to it...."honest it's legal - try it"
