Why do Halo cartos suck ?

My first starter kit was a Halo, and I have been hooked on their superior juices since.

I have since graduated to an ego, but I still use the Halo atomizers. They just seem to me to be superior to my other atomizers. Especially on the ego, they explode with flavor and vapor. My other 510 atomizers look different inside (larger bridge) and are not as tasty.

I consider the ego, with the Halo atomizer, and the Halo juice, to be an almost perfect setup. A topped off cart explodes flavor and vapor. I tend to top them off before each use and achieve about the same flavor I get from dripping but without the hassle of feeding it while I am using it.

But naturally, I was curious about cartos. The main attraction is, since I am such a light vaper a carto might well last all day or even a lot longer.

I'm really not looking for LR because I am just trying to find something that mimics the taste I am already getting with a standard atomizer.

So I logically started with the Halo cartomizers, since I am so happy with their stuff. And - they have menthol ice available in prefills, which I figured was even better.

So, I ordered a pack of ice prefills and and a pack of empty cartos.

I decided to try the methol ice prefill first. Since I was vaping menthol ice from a cart I figured that would be a good comparison.

The first taste was horrible. Weak, burnt, useless. You could tell the ice flavor was there but just barely. The next few puffs were also too bad to continue.

I figured it was a defective carto and tried the empty one next. I filled it using the condom method, and, for good measure, waited 24 hours.

Results were, once again, burnt, useless, weak taste. They are good for nothing imo. I tossed them in the trash and I'm done with that experiment.

But, the purpose of this long post is, why would anybody even sell such a carto? Granted, I didn't pre-clean them, but how can I possibly pre-clean the filled Methol Ice carto?

So my question is, is there a standard resistance carto out there (empty) that I could expect to replicate the explosive flavor and vapor I am getting with a 510 atty? And if so, is there any special handling required other than filling it up and using it?

If their cartos have an inner seal and no defined center air channel then they may be made by SLB and I hate SLB cartos. After a very short time they vape like trying to suck a wet gopher through a garden hose. Just awful.

BTW I do not use the condom method with cartos. I pop the top. I don't use any method where I cannot see inside.

how I fill
Pop out the soft cap with an unbent paperclip in the mouth hole, very careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop.
If you have those ugh SLB ones then there is a seal to remove too
Shake and open the eliquid
Hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and add 18+ drops per ml of capacity into the stuffing (Boges are about 1ml)
Clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into tissue, puff into threaded end to clear air channel (Boges have a defined center air channel)
Sop up any loose juice above the stuffing
Cap and let it settle - I lay it on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets damp so I won't singe the carto. if you use thicker juice than 70pg/30vg then you may need to wait much longer.

I also find thinner clearer juices make my cartos work well the longest (and also settle the quickest on the first fill). I now use 20% VG juices or less VG in cartos. If you are using thick juices it just is not going to work right because they don't spread/move well in stuffing - thin your juice.

As I am vaping, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or the carto is getting unusually warm, I add juice.
