Why is it that you cant just smoke your whole cart dry?

I notice after a few puffs it tastes like a burning taste and I have to put 2 more drops. But then it fills up and pools after only 2 drops.

Im using fluval...

What gives here?? I pull out the fluval and its FULL of juice, but I cant vape it. I have to pool up the cart after only 2 drops...

The problem with the stock filler is that the top of the filler will get dry when the cart is still half full of juice. That's why you will see so many cart mods out there. I have tried many cart mods (PTB, ZFM, blue foam, white foam, spring, straw, etc, etc) and they all have their issues.
Here's what I do that works like a charm (for me). Pull out the cart filler and cut about 3/4 of the length off of it. You should be left with a piece that is about a half inch long. Now fill your cart most of the way up with juice (leave it about a quarter inch from the top). Then stick the little piece of filler that you cut right on top and gently push it in until it's flush with the rim of the cart.
This method will not only allow you to get more juice in the cart, but that little piece of filler will stay soaked until the cart is completely dry.

I got an adapter for my 510 to kr808 so I can use cartomizers. So much better now they last for hours.

I have the KR808 battery with an adapter for the 510 atty. I just ordered some cartos to try on it without the adapter but they wont be here for quite a while cuz of the Chinese New Year.

KR808's use cartomizers, right?

I had thought about trying this before but had forgotten. Good idea! Thanks! I'll try it.

Add a vent straw (coffee stirring straw). Cut it so that the bottom is at the bottom of the cart, cut at an angle. The top is just below the top of the cart. Put it between the fluval and the inner wall of the cart. This does wonders for air/liquid circulation. Some add liquid through the straw but I've found it's better to add to the filler.
Try it both ways and see what is your favorite.

I do what Highping suggested - I put the Fluval into the cart and leave a space at the bottom. I find that it really helps "wick" more juice to the atty. I do have to top off - just not as often as I had been.

It can be really frustrating and discouraging Jim... It sounds as if you just may have too much filler in the cart and only the top is able to deliver juice to the atty...

I tried the straw mod, the straw mod with Fluval... It worked, but I find that leaving the air space at the bottom of the cart gives me the same result, without having to futz with the straw.

It's worth a shot tho and may help you figure out the amount of Fluval that works the best for you! When I was using the straw mod is when I started to figure out how not to over-stuff the cartridge...

There is a thread here with good pictures of that straw mod... now if I can only remember where I saw it

The search for best filler continues jim - its ongoing. What works well for some doesn't for others. I tried the PTB mod, not so great for me, maybe I overfilled it (I'm a greedy 'lil juice monster). The straw mod..less said about that the better - probably shouldn't have used the end of a pen (you know the bit that has ink it, except the very end doesn't, the long plastic tube?) as my straw. Or maybe it was too long..I dunno I'm just not great with that sort of thing :)
I'm still game though. I'm getting some blue foam and going to try that but i do find direct dripping to be wonderful.

I tried something similar to the PTB on my 510, but I'll just call it a custom mod mod :D

I'll share my story with the link

And just so you understand the nylon mesh is extremly porous, but in my run tonight it's been absolutely great. I had the burnt taste with the 510 stock carts, but so far this stuff wicks pretty well. I vaped on 1 cart over the course of maybe 3 hours or so?? No refills. And the flavor just kept on lasting. I'm not saying it may work for everyone, but I'll tell you it most certainly improved my vaping experience.

I am very new so my advice should be taken with a grain of salt but this is what seems to work well for me.

I have four 510's I charge them at night or when I get a chance. I tossed out the batting and just drip. I know you said you don't want to consider dripping but with four full units (that cost a total of $70 from Cignot) you can go all day and have four different atties set up with your choice of flavors (you might have to stop and redrip once a day or so) . If you add a PCC you can rotate your batteries and have no problems with power.

On the down side you have to carry four units but on the plus side you can have four of your favorite flavors set for all day long.

I'm trying hard to stay on budget but as soon as I can I'll buy two more and have six going. as for what to carry them in. You can always bum an empty pack of your old cigs in the 100 length box. it will fit your 510's and fit in your pocket just like old times.

Fluval seems to work the best for me. It took a few times of repacking some carts before I got the right size where it would wick good for the way I vape. Everyone is different, there is no "one size fits all" when it comes to vaping. My wife likes the PTB method, it works best for her. I fill all of her carts and mix her juice.

If your having to top off after only using a couple of drops, sounds like to me that you could have your filler packed too tightly in the cart. Or if you are constantly vaping it might not be able to wick fast enough.

I always make sure and keep my PV stored in an upright position with the cart up too so that the juice will drain towards the atty when not in use.
