Why do I need to use ~1ohm atty to check volt drop?

Volt meters these days have an internal resistance in the Meg Ohms per volt range.

Go to TasteYourJuice.com and watch the video of Phil's new Mech tester, a more accurate way to get consistent results regarding how good a Mech is.

Edit:
I should add that analog meters like you might find in the automotive section of some stores typically have an internal resistance of 20,000 ohms per volt.
