Why do I occasionally still smoke cigarettes even though I don't enjoy it?

I am very happy with my vape device and smoke the salt based e-liquid at 50 mg. What I have noticed is that while I really enjoy vaping, I still find myself smoking a few cigarettes a day. Cigarettes no longer taste particularly good and after I finish, I don't feel any satisfaction from the cigarette. And yet, before work, while I'm driving, I find myself reaching for my cigarettes and after work, when I'm tired and somewhat stressed from work, I smoke another cigarette or two. I don't fully understand why I do this. One theory is that since I am vaping most of the day, a cigarette still feels like a treat. I am not sure but I want to be done with cigarettes completely. Can anyone relate or can you suggest a solution to this final hurdle?

I've not smoked tobacco since the last cig nearly 6 years ago. Haven't wanted one, not even thought about it.

My sis quit a couple of years ago and now vapes. I think she still smokes a cigarette once month just to remind herself how bad a cig tastes. I don't get it, but it makes a lot of sense to HER. BTW, her significant other still smokes cigs.

It's cause you can flick 'em. At the end of the smoke, it's hugely satisfying to flick that .... out the window. Especially if you live in So Cal where you can start a wildfire that will make the news and hopefully dis-home some celebrities. You can't flick a vape. Well, you can but it's wildly expensive when you do it from a moving car. And dangerous if you accidently flick it at a guy a motorcycle. They don't like that.

If you don't live with a smoker, stop buying them, and suck it up as you go through detox. The true fun doesn't start until one's first week vaping ONLY, IMO, although I did feel awful right away.

But, you can't get there if you don't stop and that involves willpower. I want to have more sympathy, but I was a 3 ppd smoker who switched to vaping when my husband was still smoking routinely. Unfortunately. It did give me a sense of my own willpower, and the longer I went, the less willing I was to smoke, as I did not want to detox twice. I did have a couple days while quitting where I fell of the wagon, hard. It was very motivating (I made sure I smoked like 10--15 cigs because my first never feels awful or tastes bad) the next morning when I woke up.

Step one. Get rid of the smokes. Say you are now a vaper. Repeat it consistently and stop torturing yourself and holding up your lungs recovery by smoking a few "out of habit." The only way to change habits is to change. PERIOD.

I duel used for a very long time with varying degrees of success, it seems so simple, “just stop buying them”, most of the physical part is taken care of by the vape, but the mental aspect and automatic thinking of this is what I do in this situation is is left and imo the hardest step. I first stopped carrying them outside the house while reworking some of my thinking to the point of I no longer feel like I need to reach for a stinky because I am a non smoker, I stopped buying packs and would have to drag my .... to the gas station to buy them when I have a particularly bad craving and gas stations are for gas now. You seem like you are really close, just need to take that final step and stop buying them...

I had to choose to not buy another pack. Did I miss them for a few days...yes. You'll get there.

Maybe STOP BUYING them?

You can't smok'm if you ain't gottem.
This is what I had to do, and it took some willpower and I had to be truly ready to do it because I wanted to, not because someone told me to. Stopping for a pack of smokes was always super inconvenient anyway because I often have my youngsters with me and they make convenience stores anything but.

My local gas station would already have them rung up for me based off of if I hold up one or two fingers as I got out of the car. Normally a word was not said until I said "thank you" as I was walking away. LOL

I had to tell my station to only order mine when requested after I started cutting down. I knew I was their only customer for the ones I smoked.
