Why do none of the juices taste good to me?

Hey all,

I am 8 days into quitting smoking and using a ecig. I have a MVP V2 with a nautilus Mini and I have tried a pretty good amounts of e-juice and all but 2 have tasted ok to me.

I have tried Mt Barker, Alien Visions, Bombies, East Coast Vapes and the local B&M store custom flavours. Only flavour I can stand is Afternoon delight which is a 50/50 mix @ 12mg nicotine and is a Pina Colada mix I believe.

I basically went to 2 B&M stores and tried every flavour they have and nothing taste good, it was either too sweet or just gross but mostly just sweet. I don't like mint flavoured.

I am at a loss, does anybody have any suggestions? Maybe I need to try just a weak flavour and be ok with it not tasting that good but it seems like I am missing out on alot when reading reviews for juices.

I smoked about 12 light cigarettes a day. I have 2 tobacco flavours and they just don't taste good. I can vape them for an hour but then it's too much and I have to switch back to my afternoon delight.

I got some variations of 70pg/30vg, 60pg/40vg, 30pg/70vg and 20pg/80vg to see if that makes a difference but by the smell of these juices, I can already tell they will be horrible.

I also steep my juices via the hot water method and tons of shaking.

If sweet is your issue you probably need to look for liquids with a high PG ratio. Most folks find VG has an inherent sweetness and is overwhelming to a few. Look for flavors that are high PG and not known for sweetness, some tobaccos, some coffees, some teas, liquor flavors, etc.. However, you could be one of very few that also finds PG sweet. If this is the case you may find it difficult to locate suitable liquids. One thing to keep in mind is your taste buds will change for weeks after putting down the cigarettes. You may find liquids that are terrible now but very easy to vape in a couple of months.

I struggled for a while after leaving analogs. A friend turned me onto Velvet Vapor - Night Shift. Kinda like a soft and lightly sweet pipe tobacco or so I thought. It was really nice so I bought some only to find out it was described by the producer as Glazed Chocolate Donut and Creamy Coffee with light sugar! So, it is complex like tobacco, with a little sweetness to it. It was what I was looking for.

Today, I'm enjoying a toffee juice which is similar in flavor profile. Check out the juice reviews to see what others are recommending.

By vaping almost all tobacco based flavor for the first month, I also stumbled onto vapors tongue, which sucks. Mix it up!

You have "vaper's tongue". Its quite common, especially when you first start vaping. Your taste buds have been damaged from years of smoking. They will eventually heal up and you'll begin to taste more of the flavors you try.

Drink plenty of water. The Pg & Vg cause dry mouth, which contributes to vaper's tongue. Also insure oral health. Stronger flavors are cinnamon and mint flavors.

Just fight through this. It shall pass.

I second this. Since you don't like mint for now I would suggest a cinnamon/tobacco flavor. It should cut out the sweetness and wake up your taste buds.

Hey all, thanks for the multiple of replies. I do constantly drink water when vaping as my mouth does get dry so this is one thing I do all the time.

I will try some of the stronger flavours and see if that helps. One of the tobacco I have is RY4 from Mt Barker and it is one flavour I can do for half the day but then it becomes too much. My tastebuds being flavourless might actually be true so I will keep at it. I just hope to find something that I can stick with for a long time. For now Afternoon delight is my daily vape but it's really starting to taste pretty bad.

I am also hoping the new 70/30 I got which should be done steeping tomorrow will also make things less sweet for me. It sucks because I don't like any alcohol and now I don't like really any e-liquid lol.

I'll keep an eye here and see what other comments are posted so I can read up on them. That Ruyan juice seems pretty interesting!

OP...I feel your pain..I was in the same boat for awhile. I then found Johnson Creek! Give them a try. They have a 100% money back guarantee on all the juices (not sample bottles). They even pay return shipping and the shipping for your exchange if you chose to try something else from them. If you like tobacco the Tennessee Cured is good and the Domestic. I found the Domestic to be a little to strong so I cut it with a little bit of Vanda which is their Vanilla flavor. That make a great vape. All their stuff is made in USA with all USA made ingredients. I vape their Red Oak line with is all VG, but they have PG/VG line as well. AS for vapors tongue I have had that myself..as most have. It is short lived. The tastiest vape of the day is in the morning after you have not vaped all night. Drink plenty of water and change it up throughout the day if you can. I work from home and it is easy for me to just change to another Clearo with a different flavor.

Half the time I can't taste the juice at all! I have a hard time tasting vanillas and I haven't smoked in 5 years. I do have some that are really sweet. I like to vape on them for a while, but I can't clear a tank without them making me feel sick. It's not the nic %, just the sweetness. I prefer baked good flavors over fruits, but sometimes I need a break and go for watermelon. I would keep trying different tobacco flavors. Be careful with cinnamon flavors. They kill me.
I've also heard to smell on some fresh coffee grounds to help with "vaper's tounge".

I'm in the group that does not like flavors. I have been vaping unflavored juice for 18 months. There are some flavors that are OK for an hour or so, but never all day. Most of them are just too much for me. On the rare occasion that I want a hint of flavor, I have some that I mix half and half (or more) with my unflavored to reduce that taste. So I'm basically in it for the nicotine and not the flavor. On the plus side, there is nothing cheaper.

Maybe I need to try unflavoured juice as I tried 3 new juices today and all had a very foul taste. I tried a 20/80 pg/vg coconut and it tastes like soap, tried a 70/30 pg/vg pineapple and I think it needs to steep more as I taste almost nothing and the last one was a 30/70 pg/vg butterscotch which was far too strong so I am steeping it again.

I am going to look for some unflavored juice and see how I like it.

Being entirely honest, when I started they didn't taste good to me either...,

I found (don't necessarily recommend) that chain vaping a flavour made me like it, and taste it more. I am not sure why :/

My favourite flavour right now I absolutely hated at first. Steeped it for a week, and had it sit in warm water a few times, and it seemed to make a difference. I find leaving it sit in my cartomizers for awhile first also helps.
