Havin a bit of electronics wouldn't hurt, though.

I got that covered...

There's zero amp limit on mech mods...
Don't get
Mech vs unregulated CONFUSE...

There is absolutely a limit to the current you can run in a mech. This is determined by the continuous discharge rating (CDR) of the cell, and if the mech in question is serial or parallel if it uses more than one battery.
Knowing battery safety is especially important using a mech because there are no safeguards other than your willingness to learn and follow safety measures. If you have an atomizer short or a resistance that is too low most regulated mods won't allow firing. A mech with a shorted atty can cause the battery to vent.
The same limits (set by the physical technologies we use) apply to regulated mods, though a great majority of them can determine its batteries aren't up to CDR spec by their voltage sag, it isn't a sure bet for your personal safety.

People chose mechs over regulated devices as there is essentially nothing that can fail, they are often more rugged and compact than regulated devices. Most people that run mechs also rebuild their own atomizers, so we can get the vape we want pretty easily. A lot of mech heads got into mechs when they were really the only option for a larger, higher capacity device vs the cigalikes and egos. A lot of people seemed to have gotten into them with anxiety over a possible vapocalypse.
I have both, but the form factor of a single cell tube mech is hard to ignore. I usually have a prax1s or stingray in my pocket, takes up less space than a pack of smokes did.

I do not trust that my mental acuity will remain sufficient to handle a mech as I get older. Am old now and must plan for what time I have left to be able to vape safely and easily. So, have bought enough well known US built, battery replaceable, regulated mods that if a chip goes bad on one each year (unlikely), I'll have enough to see me through. :) A shorter time span and being a Tootle Puffer, definitely makes it easier to plan. Ha!

For my part I don't need a mod that I have to figure out settings for, and that will tell me how many puffs I had, what time it is, what the date is, or my suggested lottery numbers. I don't need a mod with electronics that will eventually fail. I like my build being my control, not some chip, and I like that button sending the power straight to the coil I wound on the wick I rolled. I can take the mech apart and clean every part in that switch and it works grandly every time. It's simple and straightforward with no built in limits coded by some chip maker. That's how I like it.

Yep, what she said. I don't own a regulated mod, and have no plans to own one.

but i heard you can really mess them up if you happen to overfill also they aren't pocket friendly from what i've heard aswell.

One reason I prefer mech squonkers...

Plus, as already mentioned, I can wash them in the sink, which is nice. :)

with minor maintenance mechs will last and still be usable for, well I hesitate to say forever, but for years certainly.

Mine will outlast me.

Maybe not all of them, but many.

What parts I may need to repair or replace, I know how to obtain and/or make.

Forever enough. :)

For worry-free operation when working in rugged conditions, I have peace of mind in my mechanical mods.

For consistency and being able to get a warmer puff when I want, I enjoy my regulated mods.

I'm a fixer (Leatherman on my hip) and my oldest boy is an EE @ TI, so if worse comes to worst, I COULD have a circuit built, but a mechanical mod can literally be made from a few bits I have lying around.

I think every vaper should have both mech and regulated mods if they so choose, or not. Some vapers just aren't tuned to mechs and the knowledge necessary to safely operate them, and some vapers lack confidence in circuits.

mmm i certainly lack the confidence the potential dangers scare me to death!

do mech mods produce cooler vapes than regulated? or are you saying you have the option of a warmer vape contrary to a mech mod?

is there a reason why people choose a mechanical mod over a regulated? i honestly haven't dealt with my own mech i just use my friends from time to time...and i see no advantage outside of it being more aesthetic and maybe...you can beat an assailant to death with one and have it still working afterwards....lol...idk i feel these newer regulated or on average most regulated mods are overall better in most aspects.

what do you guys think?

Drip a Mech in water...........Clean and continue :D
Lakeside, Boat Ramp.....(Toilet)....etc.

There's very little to go wrong with a mech, and when taken care of, should last forever and a day. I have a few regulated mods, but always find myself using the mechs more than anything.

i'm actually trying to learn in depth about battery safety currently as i've never messed with my own mech mod...and the idea of it frightens me...to death...as i enjoy looking at my face in the mirror...and i like my hands...lol...i've only tried my friends mechs...with a shaky hand

i have my eye on the nemesis or stingray(for some reason i feel like the paint on the gold sting will fade though) currently in my local B&M...but i'm debating is it honestly worth buying and using over my rx200 and my tfv4?

i honestly can't see any features that would make a mech better outside of it being aesthetic and a bit more convenient; vapor and flavor on a typically regulated seems to be just as good depending on tank and coils o.0

i see most people here pretty much say they pick a mech over regulated because its simplistic compared to a regulated (i don't see what's complicated about a regulated though) unless you're talking about the DNA200's i've seen...that's too much...and unneeded imo...but i haven't heard much about performance difference/quality of vape; so i'm assuming it's just something people can carry around easier and clean at will without spending 20 mins taking things apart and cleaning them

When using a mech, one needs the proper tools to use them safely. Namely you'll need a multimeter to ensure your coil builds are within safe limits for your battery.

As I rarely build below 1 ohm, I don't worry too much about it. Most of my builds are in the 1.2-1.5 ohm range.

A mech's output is pretty much dictated like this Ohm's law
Ever notice that wismec has bypass on the vtc and not on the rx ?
Dual series mech's are a different story .................
