You just have to love competition.

Steve, the ball is in your court. If you release a model with good "fuel injection," then everybody might forget about this "better atty" stuff...for awhile. But don't count on it. Soon, vapers will flock to the vendors that offer both.

FWIW, I strongly believe that the "Toyota approach" (lasting quality as the first priority), combined with constant innovation, is the key to your long-term success. As such, it would be very much in your interest to sell a much higher quality atty that is extremely reliable and long-lasting when used with high-voltage PVs...and sell them at a steep premium.

In addition, look at this from the perspective of a potential ban: selling the aforementioned attys NOW, and building them to be compatible with your future PVs, would lock in an ongoing customer base for you after a ban sets in.

Even if there isn't ultimately a ban, you would sell a lot of these attys -- even at a steep premium -- to vapers that want to prepare for the worst scenario.

A thread for everyone .... :D

Going over the Pro's and Con's to see what may outweigh the other .... So, lets begin .... We are NOT talking about simple reworks (pulling atomizer apart, fixing solder joint and perhaps bulking up the nichochrome coil. We are keeping this general, not China vs. USA made ...

PRO's:
1. Atomizer Life Span -- Likely the #1 and only reason people want a better built atomizer.
2. Can't think of a 2nd ....

CON's:
1. Coil size and solder joints will:
A) Adds resistance, thus resulting in poorer battery performance and weaker vapor unless you use larger and more power batteries ....
B) Adding Size <-- Which 99% of the vapers DON'T want
2. The additional cost to manufacturer
3. Disposability factor is lost

Now, I would like to hear from you .... What are YOUR pro's and con's, and if good enough, can be added to the above. Is $5/week really TOO much to have a brand new atomizer to use every week ???

-Steve

Adding Length to the same diameter coil would result in the above scenario. However adding diameter to the same length coil would have the opposite effect.... resistance will decrease as the electrons pathway widens. Providing less resistance will also result in less heat though.

The 801 atty's I've disected have coils about 1.5" in length but are extremely fine (NiChrome?) wire... If you doubled the diameter of the coil (to achieve greater durability) you would have to double the length also to maintain similar resistive performance. Unless, You altered the material (NiChrome) or used a combination of materials... I think Lukes suggestion of incorporating a ceramic material is very interesting.

For instance.... A heavier NiChrome base conductor with a coating of silicon carbide or silicon nitride enamel applied to form an elipse, disk or cylinder shaped atty coil. This is an interesting concept as it would likely yield a very durable, compact and efficient coil. Mount that coil into a concave shaped, perforated aluminum oxide dish and you may have just what the Dr. ordered.

Steve,

In another thread I had proposed incorporating a locking detent into a "New and Improved" version of your atty's as a means of "SpinProofing" them. This is a rough rendering of what I was proposing...

stratovation-albums-album-one-picture2101-detent-atty-lower-section-edited.jpg

This is just the lower section that typically would get "Spun" off, breaking the two leads. The Atty body that is press fit around the fluted portion of the lower brass would obviously require being preformed to mate with this internal component to create a Locking detent position.

Hope the graphic better depicts what I was suggesting.:)

DaMulta ... Rebuilding an already made atomizer is really not too exciting ... ;) .... Ground up (or from scratch) is what this thread is about :)
It's a start tho lol

I think a TEC Peltier would work.

Thermoelectric effect - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You could have them made round. Where the center would get hot, and the outside would get cold. I set my machine on fire one time lol

This is what happens if they stay on to long without being cooled....

ROFL I forgot to turn on the water pump one day....the card did live tho.

Just proves the point that it would vaporize any E-Liquid.

No one has mentioned cost in a while, but just a quick cost comparison: a pack of analog's in New Jersey is $6+ and in New York it can be $9+. Even at the base commissary a carton costs $55 - that's a whole starter kit shipped. Remember buying/filling lighters, Febreze spray, holes in clothes, extra colds and all the other old hidden costs...

So, for me (at $2,000+/year for analogs) a $50 atomizer/cartomizer that I could clean up in half an hour every couple of weeks like my garden tools, R/C cars or computers and lasted 6 months to a year would be great.

Make it durable
Easy to disasemble and clean
Internal switch to change voltage (coil length)

I'm in that 99% who just doesn't want to deal with the hassle of constant dripping/topping off carts. I rarely ever bring any of my e-cigs out to parties, bars, clubs etc because of the hassle of bringing a bottle of liquid, my prod, and an extra atty in case the first dies. so basically come friday and saturday night (and occasionally a tues, wed, or thurs), I buy a pack of analogs. The hassle is the only reason I'm not a 100% vaper. (I guess the prod is a bit big too, but I wouldn't trade 5v for something smaller and weaker)

something like the mahmba mod

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/24832-mahmba-concept-pv-6.html

with a long lasting, durable atty would be worth $$$ to the majority of the vaping community IMO. It would be as easy, if not easier, than grabbing your pack of smokes out of your pocket, taking one out, and lighting it. I've spent $500+ on this technology (i know many of you have spent waaaaaaaaay more). so far the prodigy is the only investment I feel happy with, and I still don't take it out when I "need" it the most. I think you create something very simple and long lasting, people will pay for it. I know I would if it would keep me 100% off analogs...

I really don't understand why anyone would complain about spending 5-10 dollars a week on a new atty.

A $10 atty has lasted me 3 months. That's why someone would complain about $5 or $10 per week for an atty. It's a definite downgrade in performance (and significant increase in cost) for those of us who have good luck with atomizers. Why would anyone want to spend $60 to $120 to match what they can get now for $10..?

Atomizer life is inconsistent. We'd all love to be able to report that $10 atomizers last us months and months, but the fact of the matter is that most of us get two weeks out of them if we're lucky.

That being said, I'd be more than happy to buy a Puresmoker manufactured atomizer even if it was $15 and performed more or less the same as a standard 510 only with better quality control. I want my money to stay in the US.

I also think it's best to keep it simple. The simpler the better. PVs already demand too much futzing around. The last thing I need is an atomizer that requires me to mess with taking it apart and cleaning it. When it's dead I want to toss it and instal a new one. I'm a vaper, not a gizmo tinkerer.

I dont know if it's even something that can be done, but I would like to reduce the "flood factor" - and all the things that go with it.

When dripping, or even using a cart that's too full, too much juice gets in there, it clogs up the atty, and the pull is sub-par. Second stage is a mouth full of juice, which also sucks. Third, leakage. All of these things happen more often that I would like, and is the #1 annoyance of vaping other than ****ty/dead batteries.

If you could address those things with an atty, I think it would make yours stand out and potentially be worth buying over others.

5 bucks a week would be great if it was local. Buying bulk makes it more of a conscious investment, and buying non-bulk with shipping makes it more than 5 bucks no matter what. I however, will look into your attys regardless because I do like to buy in bulk. 5 bucks is a good price.

Hope that helps.

More pros and cons as I think of them...

Okay,
Father Luke

This may seem trite and silly, but what about different colors.

The black and platinum are mighty pretty. But what about camouflage,
or pink for them crowds. Maybe a zebra color for the punk rock crowd?

I'd like a cobalt blue, honestly.

I'll have more to say, I'm sure.
But I'll shut up.

I would love to have an atty that would except the cigar cart's. I love that the cigar carts are threaded into the atty and have a rubber seal so that the juice does not leak all over the damn place.

leaking really is my main gripe with current pv's. I hate getting that oily gunk all over my hands.

Dude, I swear to God I've seen this somewhere. I think some german GG knockoff company makes this. Booya or something. Boogi? Broogo, something like that.

luke, PS used to sell Pink and White parts, but seems that black and steel holds the majority of the market. i myself love the different colors too, but it may just not be cost effective to get large quantity of them for suppliers.

Thanks fli.

I'm with ya there. I usually like pink, purple, blue colors and can find them in atty's and batt's but where is my leopard print..
WTB leopard print for all that is holy.. *waves $$ around madly*
