Why do some companies make me sign on delivery and some don't?

One company sent my .... by USPS and I didn't have to sign. Another company sent my junk by UPS and I was told I will need to sign. Why would you send a package requiring me to sign when you could send it and not require that? Also, is there anything I can do to avoid having to wait around to sign my ....? Like write the UPS guy a note and put it on my door saying to leave my crap, no signature required ".

Technically, everyone is supposed to make you sign, but few follow the PACT Act law that went into place in 2020. The ones that do follow the law will indicate to the shipper that an adult signature is required and will charge you for this service. If an adult signature is thus required, the shipper can only hand the package off to someone 21 years old or older. So it is wholly dependent on if the seller is following the law. And, no, you just can't leave a note on the door, assuming the shipper actually follows through with the adult signature. Most do. I've never had it happened to me, but I've heard of times that people paid for the adult signature but the carrier just delivered the package without it..without

Thanks for the info. It's really annoying because everyone on Reddit said white horse doesn't require a signature but that wasn't the case for me.

By the way, I'm only vaping disposables from now on. I'm sick of dealingimg with vapes breaking, coils not lasting more than a day, dealing with juice. It's too annoying.
