Why do these 2 Evolv Kicks look different? Are there different versions?

My buddy noticed the other day that the 2 Kicks i have look different. One of them seems to have a square looking chip or something of the sort mounted to it, While my other one doesnt have this? I have looked at many others on the net and dont notice any with this small square black chip/box?

I was curious if Evolv maybe has a 1st and 2nd gen of kicks? Anyone happen to know the difference in these 2?

Well, I can tell you this... I had bought one last October and it started acting real funny so I sent it back to Evolv within a month of purchasing it. I got mine back about 2 weeks later and it performed much better than the first one that I had. I can't say if the first one had it or not, as it's long been gone, but the second one I recieved does have that little extra piece on top. I think I remember hearing there were some issues with some of the first ones not being able to get above 4v, so maybe there was a revision done on them at some point. Did you buy them at the same time? And do you notice any difference in their performance?

Yeah, they are just different versions, but they are both authentic kicks. I have know idea which one came first. From what I understand they changed the manufacturing process to cut costs and to make them more reliable.
