At first, for me, it was a monetary issue. I simply couldn't afford the 80-100$ a week I was dropping on smokes.

When that got to the point of ridiculousness for me, I was walking around a mall and some very pushy dude was throwing an ecig in my face. I politely declined to use the test model that I had seen several questionably clean people use and thought it was probably a ripoff. So I started some earnest investigation online to see what this whole "e-cig" thing was all about and found this place.

After I got my first units (also an 808) I was thrilled. It was uber cheap in comparison, no more smelling funky, I started to regain my sense of taste and smell, less nasal congestion, no more hacking up a lung..

I will admit, I still really loved smoking for smokings sake though. I enjoyed the flavor and the act, and taking a time out from it all. The PV gives me all of that in a slightly different way, so even if I was off of nic I would still vape.

I simply enjoy it, it helps me relax, gives me something good to taste, in the morning it fills my car with delicious aromas haha.

I never really wanted to quit, but as an alternative, this sure beats the cold turkey I started with. It was either snap and get back on the smokes after about 4 weeks of cold turkey, or try this out. Glad I made the switch. It also fills my tech geek niche well with all the hardware/mods.

:)

This is the million dollar question. Is it a smoking cessation device? The FDA doesn't seem to think so.

Forum members have posted that it is not wise to start vaping if you never were a analog smoker. I have quit smoking all together and I could quit vaping now as well but I like vaping so I vape when I feel like it.

The key words are "when I feel like it."...I use low nicotine now and I vape when its convenient for me, like on my days off.

I got sick of coughing up a lung every morning when I woke up. I was sick of the smell in my clothes, my car, my house. I also found most women I was dating HATED cigarette smoke. I was completely skeptical when I first saw e-cigs and actually thought they were a money making subscription scam. Then I tried one of the mall samples and it tasted horrible. It wasn't until 6 months later when a co-worker had me try his that was filled with American made juice and I was hooked. I was able to quit analogs completely within 10 days and have not picked one up since (6 months and counting). I now mostly vape for the taste and have worked my way down to low nicotine strength. I don't plan on going to zero or stopping vaping.

I decided to start using ecigs not to quit smoking persay but to replace my regular cigarettes that were starting to show their nasty side effects.. I did also consider using ecigs to quit smoking altogether but I love smoking/vaping too much so it was only for a quick second or two :)

I also still smoked a cig or two in the mornings for the first few weeks, eventually you won't want them anymore too..

Because I knew I had to stop smoking, and wanted a safer alternative. I'm just not ready to try to give up nicotine.

I got sick of feeling like I couldnt breathe, and worse, I was seeing the effects of my and my husband's smoking on our kids. But I knew how hard it was to give up nicotine, and didn't want to subject my kids to psycho-mommy....So vaping seemed to be the logical thing to do - cleaner for everyone, less expensive, and still gives mommy her sanity :)

Originally heard about ecigs from a friend when he told me about blu. Did some research and found this forum. Many factors came into play when deciding what i should get. I definately wanted quality over appearance unlike like my friend who sold his blu 3 days after he got it when he ran out of carts and vapor was nil.

Cost / major factor /was a RYO fan until the 300% fed tax
Taste and TH/ will it even work
Work / starting a new job / would it be usable
Maintenance / is it more or less hassle than analogs
Smell and odor / can i use it indoors at home and while out

It took me about 2 months to decide to take the risk and ordered a 510 from Heavengifts. Got the order about 3 weeks later and been loving it ever since. My starter kit misers just died last wednesday, both within a week. Got the kit in march so they lasted longer than expected.

scale of 1-10
Cost / 10
Taste and TH/ 6
Work / 7
Maintenance / 10
Smell and odor / 9

One thing i found extremely hard to do is vape while drinking. There is a constant feeling to have an analog and will have 1-2 if available.

Work is kind of annoying people always asking what it is. After they know the jokes start coming: crack pipe , hippie, no smoking, pot head you name it they will find something and usually comes from smokers.

In Public is where i was surprised the most. There might be an occasional question but not like work. I'll roam stores while shopping vaping all the way and never be bothered by anyone, might get a couple weird stares but thats it.
Restaurants I was asked once to put out my cigarette because there was no smoking in that section, to bad there was nothing to put out, looked at the waiter weird and kept on vaping. Next time im going to look around for a smoker!

Overall i give ecigs 2 thumbs up as an alternative. As far as quitting nicotine 50/50 chance depending on how much and how long you have smoked.

I've always had mixed feeling about quitting. I've smoked for 11 years, and I have to admit, I love to smoke. I love the flavor, the smell, the actual "act" and sensation of smoking. The only reason I've ever entertained the idea of smoking is purely for health reasons. I also don't want to look 50 when I'm 35-40.

I've never gone longer than a day without a cigarette. It's been 2 days now, and I've thought about smoking but a quick couple vapes from my new personal vaping device, and I forget about smoking. And the taste is awesome. I can't wait to see the effects taking place from quitting cigarettes for good. ;)
