Why does it go to 50 watts?

Some of us packed our cigarettes tight and took long deep drags causing the cig to get hot. Low wattage vaping doesn't cut it for us. We need that hot deep lung filling vape to satisfy. We're the ones who were stacking batteries for 6 volts in home made mods back in the day. We are the reason there are so many choices now.
Some of us also prefer a half second draw that could choke a horse opposed to a 3-5 second draw with wisps of vapor.

Do what you like and don't worry about other's vape style.

@username1970 It's possible that your mod has a function to lock the wattage, have a look at the manual.
A comparison would be the speedo on a car that goes to a 180mph, it doesn't mean you have to drive at that speed. I have a three battery 300 watt mod. I run it around 70 watts (with a large exotic coil) and get battery life for days.
50 watts is actually pretty low, the average entry level wattage for many mods on the market for a while now is in excess of 200 watts, which in my opinion is mental.

@amoret, the Freemax Fireluke 22 tank is looking interesting. As it has SS904L coils in 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 ohms which can possibly be used with TC.

Reviews have confirmed it's restricted DTL to a good MTL, so I'm considering picking one up when they become available.

I agree with what the other folks have said. Learn how to lock the wattage on your mod, it is a safety measure as far as I'm concerned. If you told us what mod you are using I'm sure someone on here can help you. How fast can you get your mod out of your pocket if the watts maxed out on your mod and then auto fired? Not a pretty picture but one that has been documented, just check out some of the ecig fails on YouTube from venting batteries.

Kidding aside, I have mods that go up to 100-200 watts, but I only go with 12-13 watts. It doesn't bother me much, and I just lock my wattage.

One of my squonkers is setup with a dual fused clapton coils at .8 ohms each (so .4 ohms overall) which I vape at 40 watts. My subtank mini I have setup with a .7 ohm coils and I vape it at 15 watts. My provari with protank has a 1.2 ohm coil which I vape at about 7 watts. I enjoy them all. It really is a matter of getting the individual setup the way you like it. No hard and fast rule.

The only time I crank my 10W vape up to 30 watts is when the wick gets over-saturated. A few hits later all is well again and I can turn it back down to 10.

I generally vape between 120 and 140 watts. But I'm also using dual quad core fused clapton coils in a 25mm Kennedy RDA.

Somehow, I inadvertently pushed the buttons just wrong today and it went from 7 watts (my usual power setting) to 50 watts (the highest setting). I didn't even mean to push any of those buttons.

I experienced instant burnout and a horrible taste in my mouth and the coil was instantly ruined.

Do people really vape at such high power? If so, how often do you have to replace the coil? And how many ohms are you putting that through? The coil I replaced it with is 1.77 ohms which is about the same as the one I burned out.

50 watts seems so excessive to me that I double-checked and yes, that's what it says it goes up to. Even at 7.5 watts the coils seem to burn out too fast which is why I vape at 7.

I feel like Nigel Tufnel designed this thing. "But it goes to 50. That's 43 higher than 7. So it's like 43 more. So when you're vaping at 7 watts and you want that extra push over the cliff..."

(I'm actually impressed that Nigel could do the math to figure that 50 was 43 higher than 7)

A battery that goes to 50 is, quite frankly, larger than one that goes only to 7 therefore it stands to reason that vaping a larger battery at 7 watts will give you greater battery life and thus, you charge it less often which also means that same battery will have greater longevity as well.... (win, win for you)

But you know... just call me Nigel since I'm oh so stupid.. lol

At any rate, most mods have features where you can lock in your wattage settings thereby becoming unable to accidentally/inadvertently change the wattage on your mod. Might want to look into that...

Why does my car go up to 140+ mph?

I used to own a '72 Grand Prix that went up to 160 (probably faster). Don't know, never took her there. Sure wish I would have kept it though.

Back on topic... I'll go with what everyone else said already. Great advice!
