Why does my e-juice taste terrible?

So, I am completely new to vaping...I hadn't even heard about it until a month or so ago. I did some research online, and it seemed like an EVOD would be a good place to start. I bought this particular kit: https://www.CANVAPE.com/product-p/evodkit.htm

So, I recieved this kit today, along with a few juices. Some are PG/VG, some are just VG. All are 0 mg nicotine. I've tried one 60/40 PG/VG juice in one vape, and a 100% VG in the other. They're pretty disappointing...I can taste some of the flavor, but I'm getting a kind of plastic-y taste or something. I saw online about some people getting a burnt taste, but I don't know if it's the same thing.

Any help or advice for me?

0 mg nicotine? Were you not a smoker?

You didn't mention the flavors or the manufacturer/vendor of the juice. Some juices need time to steep, but not all of them. Knowing the flavors or manufacturer might tip us off if they need it.

Some individuals can "taste" the plastic that some of the juice delivery devices are made from. The evod uses a polycarbonate plastic.

And of course it could be just bad-tasting juice. There's a lot of them out there; makes you wonder sometimes how they stay in business.

Sometimes, you'll get that taste at first with a brand new atomizer. It should go away after you've given it some use. You can give it a day or two and see if it goes away, or you can also try "blowing out" the atomizer. Manufacturers usually put a primer liquid in the atomizer, and if you blow through it, it will clean out whatever stale liquid may be left in there.

This thread should be helpful: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/133998-how-fix-bad-taste-new-atomizers.html

If you used glass cartos or clearos would that help to avoid the plasticy taste or is that something that might already be in the juice to begin with?

Not familiar with that starter kit. Looks like an eGo knockoff, which should at least be a start. Did you rinse/ clean your clearos with hot water prior to filling ?
Might I ask what kind of flavors you would like to try ? Sweets, Fruits, Desserts, Coffee, Teas, Tobacco, Mint, Menthol...... There are literally dozens of choices from scores of Vendors out there. If you could post what flavors you would like to try maybe someone could direct you to a Custom E-Liquid Dealer that is known for that particular taste.

To be honest...no, I'm not a smoker normally. I'd feel kind of dumb explaining why I bought a vape, so I won't, lol.

As for flavors I've tried, one is Hooligan's Beach Smoothie, and the other is ReadyMix's Dr. Pep. I did think that maybe I should let all the juices I bought steep for a bit before I try again.

If brand new and first fill you will need to give a bit of time for the wick to soak before the flavor comes through. Fill evod let sit few minutes then fire battery a few seconds a few times then try vaping.

That's exactly what I did :(

Looks like true EVODs - and I've never had a nasty startup taste with those.
The juice though - looks like they ONLY sell 0-nic, and I've never had theirs.
You may want to try one of the favored juice vendors you can search for here on ECF.
Warning though - CanVape calls their juice "vape-ready" and MOST vendors sell fresh-made juice that needs to steep for a week or two to taste best. There are a couple that sell good ready-to-go juice. Maybe try Halo...

No, I didn't rinse them with hot water or anything first...although it would have made sense to. As for flavors, the 5 juices I bought are all sweet/desserts. I'd probably try anything but menthol. I'm in Canada, so I'd probably stick to Canadian vendors. The people at Canvape where I bought everything from seem to be really great. And well priced compared to some other sites. But again, I'm a newb, so what do I know :p

They actually do sell juices with nicotine, you just have to register on their site to access those ones.

Thanks everyone, BTW, for being helpful so far.

Odd that they don't sell any with nic. Be sure to shake they juice before you fill also, it can't hurt even if it is supposed to be ready to use. anyway, as others have said wicks need a while to absorb juice and there can be a bit of plastic taste with poly atomizers. I found it especially true in some of the cheap knock offs. Now if you ever get top coil atomizers those take even longer to absorb and also even after you are using the coils for a while they can get a bit dry overnight. Even with tipping I will get dry hits for the first few minutes..but after that being said they sure taste good. Just take it easy and do not try to take too many hits to fast or you can flood your setup. I have done it with top and bottom coil and I always try to keep a tissue handy at all times to wipe out the mouthpiece.
