It came from an Urban Dictionary definition of "squonk" that pre-dates ours.

Oh I have a match alright.

Squonking is to sex as having something messy, squishy and filled with liquid inside some electronic equipment and you have to squeeze it now and then to get it working, and if you don't wash your bottles well and everything else you might get diseases, and also, there's always SOMETHING to clean up, and whatnot. Sometimes you will lose your bottle and have to limp home without it. Regular medical checkups essential.

Squonking is a LOT like sex in college.

While I enjoyed it at the time (college sex) I knew no better. But, a good RTA is like sex with your husband of 15 years (YES FIFTEEN FOLKS) once you get to know it, and it has an idiosyncrasy or two, which you sort of stay on top of, you can trust it, it gives you Great Vape, and you know..... I don't need 15 great big squonkers to feel like a woman. I don't need to leave my panties in other people's dorm rooms as I am tiptoeing away in shame (AND some of them REMEMBER you and come FIND you and it is BAD bad BAD.) Nope, I don't need that. I'll take my reliable true tank and even my doggy style if I need variety.

(You can exclude STD testing for me. I grew up in the HIV will kill you generation. Even in blackouts I was like "We will be using MY condom. MINE I know it's in good condition and you will put on or now or I will leave.)

There you go. That is my way of making sense of that comment. Squonking is not like sex, it is like sex in college.

RTAs are like being married .I am a bonder, I like marriage a lot. For those of you who preferred college, have at it.

Significant amounts of juice getting sucked back means you squonked up more juice than necessary.
Over-saturated only happens if you over-squonk.

I use both.
My squonkers hold up better to "life" than glass wrapped tanks.
Kitchen, bath, car, beach, mountains, air travel, falling from a table to a tile or paved surface; my experience suggests to me that squonkers have a higher probability of reliability.
I baby my tanks, I'm more gentle and cautious with them. They don't come to the beach or on a boat, they don't don't come on bike rides or accompany me during projects.
My squonkers are daily drivers, my tanks tend to be trailer queens.
...and I love them both.

There is no "right" path as long as you are NOT smoking cigarettes.

My RTA's don't flood,leak or do any thing wrong, Just that perfect Hit every time
I have small mods to Even Smaller than yours! I don't need to house a Bottle!
Lets face it Bottom Feeding is like driving a Standard Transmission!
Not really any better at any thing & a bit of a hassle, But old timers Swear By Them

I think that I have quite a good setup for squonking, yet every time when I start using it, after a couple of days it starts gathering dust again, in favour of my RTA (Berserker MINI MTL). The problem is that compared to the RTA, the flavour is so "washed out", it's like day and night. I use the same Ni200 or SS316 coils in both the RDA and the RTA, and also the same wicking material. It's really "everything else being equal", the temperature (I vape with TC enabled) and the preset wattage as well, just the flavour is so much weaker in the dripper. So that's why I stopped using it shortly after buying it.
But recently, I got the idea (from this forum) to use it for unflavoured juice, so I tried that. But even that is much more satisfying with the RTA, with the dripper it's a lot like sucking hot air in, even with the air hole on the smallest position. There's also visibly a lot less vapour with the dripper, even when I almost oversquonk.
So how comes that squonking is so popular? Isn't squonking supposed to be better in the flavour department? Is my atomizer (Ammit Geekvape MTL RDA) the problem? I know that my VT Inbox mod has a DNA 75 board, which is very good. For now, my squonker will start gathering dust again, unless someone can give me advice on how to make it better...

I'm in with you. I do use my squonker every now and again, but I prefer tanks much more than drippers. And I bought my first dripper early 2014, so I've had a lot of time trying a lot of things out...

Let me take you back in time. Maybe it'll explain some things.
Back in 2009 we had a problem with cartridges. Many of us saw that dripping into a 901 or 501 atty got better flavor and clouds. FF to a year later. Cartomizers are very much in vogue. So someone had the idea of attaching a bottle so that the 1ml carto wouldn't get dry so fast. I stopped using BF mods when cartos went out of fashion (or was it Boge Gate? I can't remember. Cartomizers started tasting like fried bacon) and never got around to building an atty for my Reo. Sold it because it was unregulated.
Still I can't find a real taste to it.

Try taking a Zeus single or a Themis. I take those with a vape band and the cage helps a lot. I keep my vape in the cupholder and straight in and out of my bag.

There are demonstrations found on the internet that show a squeeze/pinch test that is suppose to identify fillers used in silicone. Do not know how valid these tests are, but the bottles I feel are of quality seem to pass, and those that fail the squeeze test retain flavour and odor from the juices used with them. These flavours and odors transfer to the vape and not in a good way.

I’ve had much success with the BB Vapes bottles, but they are of a standard size and do not fit all squokers.

Put 1/2 a teaspoon of baking soda into slightly warm water and leave overnight. No odors can fight it. If it's too persistant leave it all day.

Still I'm having a bad time coping with it. But, yes, it's smaller, but a great leaking danger in a woman's purse.

Get a top airflow tank and it'll rarely leak. That Dead Rabbit SQ I like a lot because it's very leak resistant. But my other RDAs, emmm, no.

Thanks but doesn’t work. Name a process and I can guarantee I’ve tried it. Time does work, but who wants to wait 2+ weeks to use a bottle that will just end up foul again within first contact of juice. And this is not just a one off, out of 5 different squonkers, many with replacement bottles, only one does not retain odors. Other I have replaced with OEM bottles

I don't go back quite that Far, But close! I do remember the day when the best Vape was a Bottom Feeder! Today the RTA's have improved A Lot! The vape quality is as good or better than Dripping/ Bottom Feeding & it's So much easier to run an RTA
