Why don't stacked tube mods have more / bigger venting? Is it okay to drill more?

Can anyone think of a reason not to add some vents to my roughstack when it gets here?? I'm going to be using AW IMR so I don't think I have to worry too much about it(I can't find a report of them exploding, in anything, anywhere, ever), but it couldn't hurt- right?

I'd like to add vents in the sides of the cap (so pressure/gas would go out there instead of blowing my atomizer through my face or giving me a face full of battery acid or whatever it is) and maybe a couple vents where the batteries meet (in case they would swell, that might be a good place for gas/pressure to escape).

Apparently I can't get the same batteries for 6v... so I'd definitely like to have the extra venting for when I get some CR123s

I like where the vents are on the rough stack. Two holes in the bottom... no where near my face or my hand.

If you're planning to add more venting, I don't think you'll really find anywhere in the cap to put it. The pcb for the switch is just at the top of the threads. There's plenty of room on the body... Are you getting a powder coated RS or a non-painted one?

It's just the plain one Maxi RoughStack V2

I like the idea of it venting away from me out the bottom, too, but what happens if the bottom battery swells up and seals it off? Then I would imagine it'd have nowhere left to go but the switch and the connector ...

Maybe it's overkill to worry about it since I'm using AW IMR anyway

Maybe a "2 cents for saftey MOD fuse" would be a better alternative than potentially jacking up your rough stack. They are supposed to cut power to the unit before batteries can get to the point of a critical short.

Those are indeed cool. I was sort of wishing I had one the other day. For the first time in about 2 or so years of using rough stacks, I shorted mine and collapsed the spring.

Aluminum is soft. If you're going to drill into the side you might stick a similarly sized wooden dowel in your pv just in case drilling deforms the metal. I do this when I drill cartos. I drilled extra vent holes in the bottom of my aluminum bolt very easily.

I think you mean to put something in there _while I'm drilling_ to be sure that it keeps its shape, yeah??
Sounds like a good idea, to me!

I wasn't sure one would fit in there since the one guy told me 18350s might not make it ... I guess with 16340s it probably will ??
