I'm kind of in the same boat as the OP. I started vaping almost exactly 2 years ago. I've tried to keep up...I really have tried. I come here daily to read and learn and, sometimes, even to comment. But lately I have to admit, I'm just an old fart trying to keep up with technology...and most of the time I don't have the slightest idea what you are all talking about. I mean, I have a kayfun, but I still have a flip phone, and I have never figured out what bluetooth is...how weird is that.

You young whippersnappers are going to ruin it for the rest of us.

Well, playing the devil's advocate, I have to agree with one thing about stereotypes and such... Vapers have to take long draws to get a good throat hit. Did you ever looked at the expression people do while drawing? I'm a vaper myself but I have to recognize that I look like an drug addict getting his fix (not far from the truth) and we all probably are being labeled as such by the world that sees our glassed eyes looking into nowhere while we get that throat hit :p

Regards
Tony

Tony, I had to laugh when I read your comment as I think the exact same thing every time I watch a vape review or vlog on Youtube. There's a sort of game that goes on in my head comparing how the different people vape, ie: Phil Busardo looks whimsical, the Scottish guy Todd looks a bit constipated when he vapes, Grimm takes a toot and looks like the cat who ate the canary, Matt from suck my mod reminds of a dude taking a hit off a [MODERATED] and the guy from Indoor smokers, well he looks [MODERATED] all the time anyway so it's hard to classify his vape face!

I think all of us probably make odd faces while we vape but I don't really concern myself with that factor when I'm out and about; the number one reason I generally don't take my Kayfun out in public and tend to stick with a smaller profile setup in that circumstance is to avoid having to repeatedly say "No man, I'm NOT smoking [MODERATED]!"

You don't have to understand what every person uses, does, builds, etc. All you have to do is enjoy what works for you and be happy you have chosen a life without tobacco cigarettes!

Everyplace I go now there are poorly dressed, tattooed, pierced hipsters who've taken over and co-opted vaping. They are all snobby about it too, mentioning how great they are at sub-ohm coil building and flashing their high end gear.

I'd like to see pictures of this. A dozen will do. Ought to be no problem if every place you go this is occurring.

Maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe my inner curmudgeon is emerging. Maybe I'm just a cynic.

Anyway, that's my rant. Flame away.

AND YOU DAMN KIDS, GET OFF MY LAWN!!

Your rant strikes me as inner curmudgeon needing to vent.

Old man, look at my life
I'm a lot like you were

i totally get the OP's point and the source of their irritation - regardless of what they used as an example of a 'style description' of the subjects of their annoyance - it was an example - not to be taken personally as a pointed gripe against "one specific type" of person.

The ones s/he is so fed up with, are, what we called in the 80's: 'poseurs' - those who pick up something just to look cool, get in with the 'in crowd' - which then reduces a thing to just the latest fad or trendy craze.... which then snowballs into even more obnoxious uber-trendyness with all the poseurs tryna outdo each other onto bigger, more, fancier, etc . Bah. I can't stand that nonsense either..... and i can totally get why the OP is irritated by it.

because it DOES have an impact on the rest of us. An ever-growing group of irresponsible, rude, inconsiderate, in-your-face, faddists certainly CAN impact how the general public views the activity, and that CAN impact such things as the advent of rules and regulations NOT based on sound information - but on uninformed over-reaction to the obnoxious behavior they see. The public can't tell the difference between a vaper who's serious about smoking cessation or harm reduction, and one who just wants to be anti-establishment uber-cool around the martini bar (or worse, the salad bar, lol) blowing 20-foot clouds and pushing the envelope "cause I CAN! It's not illegal, i can do what i want wherever I please."

So i get the OP's point... trendy poseurs who do the activity in an ......-ish manner have the potential to jack it up for the rest of us.

ok i know i said "bro get some endorphins" earlier but i understand where OP is coming from. ...... cloud chasing in public looks bad. so does trying to convince someone that vaping is good when using terms like cloud chase, super nano dragon coil, subohm, dry hit, adjustable airflow etc. people just dont understand these things. i get on instagram every day and see SO many people posting videos of them blowing a huge cloud. we get that a an APV can do that. it was cool to post pics/vids of clouds for about 5 seconds. just remember why you started vaping and keep it that way. show that vaping is not inconsiderate annoying distracting obnoxious stupid meaningless or pointless. just present it as it is: a healthier alternative to smoking

under the blue sky
basically it makes a difference b/c obnoxious vapers are the ones responsible for the regulations and public outcry

No.
No.
No.
No.
No.

Who is responsible? Busybodies who can't mind their own business and think they know what is or isn't good for you. Nannystaters who have been given carte blanche by their constituents and are never held responsible for their extreme views about big gulps, beer, non-organic apples, what sort of lightbulbs you use, guns, tobacco, what sort of car you drive, where you can ride your bike, where you can loiter, where you can walk, ..... Jerks who can't keep their noses out of their neighbors business are the ones responsible. People who support those jerks and never hold them responsible nor take responsibility for supporting them....

My libertairan streak may be showing, but I ain't wrong.

Hey... an old fogey thread complaining about youth in general. I'm in!

As I approach old-farthood I find myself a bit more tolerant of young people's antics. After all, they will be financing most of my retirement, my health care, adult diapers and, a multitude of senior discounts I'm somehow entitled to for no apparent reason.

So go young 'uns! Enjoy life while you can still afford to be ignorant :)

When did young people go back to being called "hipsters"?:?:
When did they stop calling them "flappers"? 8-o

Lets think about this logically......just a second sorry...

By FAR the majority of ecig users...are not the hang around forums types right?
Hell the mass majority dont even know there are forums for ecigs...they picked ecigs up from a local vape shop or walmart or the mall or something online like Blu. The whole cloud chasers kick seems to be limited to the forum users, yet by far the majority of forum users arnt cloud chasers.....or are limited to the hell once in a while I was curious its kinda fun types.
So guesstimate......what % ecig users are this type? Let alone the Whole stereotype hipster, tattooed ..they must be liberals too!
10% 5% 1%...........I'd guess it's more like 0.00000026%

Now next issue, as a member of the community for so long........ya might have noted that the Anti's started up and tried banned ecigs in 2009(etc, etc as it certainly wasnt a single event) Schools and colleges started changing their policies in like 2011-12ish
WELL before any tattooed evil hipster could have possible gotten hold of the "tech" to make massive clouds to make an ... of themselves with.

You might also notice...the antis' are still really really hung up on Cig likes. MORE cig like the better. They write there little articles uninformed junk, and it's amazing if they use an ego for the stock photo.

Your irritated and ...... at the wrong folks....for no real reason.

Well, playing the devil's advocate, I have to agree with one thing about stereotypes and such... Vapers have to take long draws to get a good throat hit.

That's for so called 'normal' vaping. Turn the power up and that goes away. At my typical 30 watts I rarely take longer than a 2 second drag. All the TH, flavor and vapor I need is right there. It's what I think of as a aggressive vape and one of the things I like about higher power vaping.

totally predictable - someone says "Beef Chimichangas are really tasty, but they are really high in fat and carbs. People with gall stones should avoid them." and a thousand people will pick that statement apart, offended that he had to choose a Mexican food, or that people with gall stones eat them all the time and don't get intense pain.

The people he's talking about aren't even on the ECF. They've never even heard of it. They're on Facebook and YouTube. That's their community. He wasn't talking about you, you who are so easily offended. You are here, you are family.

i've been here just about as long as the OP

sub-ohming is jst another vapin fad,,just like freshly charged stack batts were at one time also .8.2 volts puts out a lot of vapor too

People get hung up on the 'sub-ohm' thing, but that's just one way to get a higher power vape. The vape experience today and probably for some time to come is largely about the watts (power). Don't get me wrong, I understand about air flow, wire gauge, etc, but there is no way to get a 10 watt setup to vape like a 20 or a 50 watt setup.

When there were no high amp batteries vapers stacked batteries. When high amp batteries entered the picture we figured out how to use low resistance builds in mech mods to increase the watts. Now that high power regulated devices are on the market and getting better, they will take more and more of the spotlight in high power vaping as time goes by. We use the best, safest devices available to get what we want.

A lot of people like high performance devices. Cars, skis, home entertainment centers, you name it. Heck, even my kitchen stove has a microwave device in the oven to shorten cooking time by half. Works well too, but you have to get to know its quirks ;)
