Bathroom is done but we had an " incident" with our new high efficent toilet. We had company and the daughter flushed "feminine products"! We have a septic tank so we had our whole system PLUGGED UP!! My hubby was snaking and plunging for hours to clear the lines...........So we are a day behind schedule but the caulking should be dry on the shower today and we will be able to use it.

When this is all over I'm never paint, tile, grout, sheetrock, or anything again! It will all be hired out!

Dang Stover I was going to hire you to help me re-do my upstairs...LOL

We had our first OFFICIAL family gathering at our house yesterday for my daughter's birthday dinner. I cooked 6 pans of eggplant parm. There were 10 people there and ALL of us fit at our table/island. I had 2 ovens going and the house stayed at a cool 78 degrees. That's a miracle since it was 110 outside with a heat index of 115! So glad everything worked out and I think everyone had a good time. Next project is to get the bedrooms completed along with the master bath. I'm just ready for a break is all I can say.........

I guess I'm glad I haven't been on here since your first post in this thread...I'd have been envious for the whole past month!

It's just beautiful...and no mortgage...congratulations!!!!

We bought a real fixer-upper when my son was 3, with the intention of fixing it up and eventually moving.

I love (loved) doing renovation work...what I didn't know, I learned from books. I knocked down walls, gutted and re-tiled 2 bathrooms and the kitchen, replaced every door and window, and every piece of molding in the house and put in a brick patio and extensive walkways, landscaping, etc. I did it alone (except for big windows, which I couldn't lift alone) and was usually soooo tired, I could barely make it into bed at night.

It's now 24 years later, but we never moved, lol (mainly because when we finally thought about it seriously, our son was in college and we couldn't afford it... every house we looked at needed the same kind of work I'd done on this one and I said a big fat NO to doing it myself again!)

We may have to move in the near future for my husband's job, which makes me sad...if so, this time I'd like it to be smaller and finished...except for cosmetic stuff.

However, I would also be happy to come and cook in your kitchen for you!!

(oh and yes...grouting sucks!)

You are welcomed to come cook in the kitchen anytime.............although we had 6 pans of eggplant parm we are down to 1/2 so it's almost time for another big cook :D
