OK, I know this seems like a dumb question, but reading all the threads on different flavors made me think hard about it. When I smoked cigs it wasn't the flavor that was that important to me, it was the smoothness and satisfaction of the cig itself, and I would never describe my cig as 'yummy'. :)
Now that I have been vaping for over a year, I feel the same way about the juice, smoothness and satisfaction, taste is nice but since I mainly vape coffee, 555, wowboy, cinnamon roll and butterscotch, even though they all taste great to me, I just can't get excited about a lot of the flavors that seem to have so many fans ( and I've tried a lot of them).
It's all about replicating the satisfaction of smoking and vaping is so much better.
So how important is flavor to you all?

It's not necessarily just the flavor, it's a variety of factors for me. Like you, I never smoked for the "flavor". I smoked primarily for the throat hit. It's still the most important factor for me. But a good TH will not help a nasty flavor. I have tasted quite a few flavors from V4L and elsewhere. I like mint. Supermint has a very mild flavor and very little TH. I started out on menthols and now I can't stand them. Vapor Bomb has a juice called "Arctic Ice." It has a great TH, but the flavor is a bit like vaping "Vicks Vapo Rub." The only 2 flavors I have found that completely kill my cravings for analogs are V4L's "Wow Peppermint" and Tasty Vapor's "Atomic Cinnacide." Unfortunately AC is so strong that I cannot use it as an all day vape, so that leaves me Wow Peppermint. It's the only juice I've found that has everything. Flavor - throat hit - the perfect mix between harsh and smooth. If flavor isn't that important to you, consider yourself very lucky.

Flavor certainly played a role when it came to picking a brand of analogs. I smoked Merits for years and they changed the paper which changed the taste so I switched to Camel Lights. Then they changed their flavor and I switched to Marlboro Lights (silvers) which I smoked until I started vaping.

I will admit that I unless I hear a lot about a flavor as being outstanding I don't just try random flavors out of curiosity. At this point I have 6-7 go to flavors which I am more than happy with.

I will agree that it was so much easier smoking cigs.....I personally love the flavors for variety. I guess it's kinda become like anything else for me.....Like a meal for example.....I have my days where I just CRAVE a certain thing...say mexican, and everything else just sounds eeewwww, even my favorite foods just will not cut it...I have to have that mexican. So I guess for me, it's like having a kitchen full of food, as long as I have my variety, I won't go out to eat.....or in this case I won't make a run for the gas station for a pack of ciggies. Now, I hope this makes as much sense written out as it does in my head:blush:

I know what you mean plantlvr, it is odd in some ways. Here's my take on it.

1. Though I love vaping, in an important way it does not replace smoking for me. I don't get that hit of smoke & nicotine. To forget smoking & be totally committed to vaping, I've found other things to make up for the hit, flavour being one of the main things.
2. I love the after-taste of many of the Wow flavours.
3. Because we can! Cigarettes never tasted so good, so why not explore & enjoy?

Speaking as someone who is just starting out, I'd say the reason flavor is so important is because of the stress associated with making the switch. And there is a little of that. It's been easier than most of my attempts at quitting analogs, but there are little things that still creep up every now and then that make me crave a Marb. The more variety I get the better.

The same thing kinda goes for this forum. When I was doing research about a month ago, I thought this whole Web site was a little nuts. Don't take that personally, because my opinion has changed since I became a vaper myself, but from an outsiders POV it does seem odd that people can chat so much about something so simple. Are there analog msg boards out there?

It all comes down to coping with the analog demon. Since I've switched, I get an average of 5 hrs of sleep. Which is par for the course for me when it comes to quitting. I've done it before. Now, at least I have something to do during these restless hours. Give me a variety of flavors to choose from, and a forum where people understand where I'm at, and I'm set.

I never cared for the flavor of analogs myself. I need the nicotine, vapor, and hand to mouth action to keep me off analogs. The flavor has become really important to me because it has the bonus of keeping me from eating like a total freakin' pig. I used to eat enough for a whole family at one sitting, and vaping yummy flavors has nipped that in the bud for me. I wasn't expecting that! So now, yes, flavor is crucial. Hopefully I will be healthier not only because I'm not smoking anymore, but also because I'm not eating so much. Maybe I'll even lose weight! Who knows?

I completely agree. I tried many flavors until I found my "go-to," WOW Peppermint, which is the only flavor I've ordered for the last six months or so. Every flavor I liked, and the reason I like Peppermint so much, is because of that particular flavor's throat hit and vapor amount, not the flavor itself (although I did prefer some to others, but flavor really wasn't a major factor in and of itself). I guess for me vaping replaces the feel and habit of cigarettes completely, and since I never cared or liked the flavor of smoking, it wasn't what made me do it, the same applies to vaping.

You don't have to hang out at ECF for long to realize that a lot of members embrace vaping as not only an alternative to smoking, but as a new hobby with a life all it's own. They embrace it with full passion - collecting vaping devices, trying multitudes of flavors from a host of vendors, and even pursuing mixing their own flavors. And that's great for them if that's what floats their boat. Obviously for these people, flavor is very important.

Then there are other (myself being one) who just got into this to kick smoking. Sure, I enjoy vaping and trying new flavors. But in the end, I'm down to 0mg of nicotine and look to exit vaping altogether at some point down the road (or at least cut down so drastically that I'm just having an after dinner evening vape for old times sake). With this in mind, my primary need is some throat hit to replace the analog sensation. And like Firefox and Luda, peppermint does the trick for me.

I think the flavors add something to this that smoking never could do. It's fun for me so I like to try. I have my go to vapes 2 of them nuport wow and smilin' premium. Then try out a few flavors a month. I think of them more like a treat to add something in fun. You may not be able to live off of chocolate bars, but they are nice to have once in a while.

For me, flavor was the reason I switched to vaping. Yes, I was concerned about my health, but I was more excited about the prospect of the yummy flavors. When I was waiting for my kit to arrive, I watched tons of videos and it seemed like vapor production was overly important to those video peoples. I didn't understand why, because when I was smoking (while watching the videos) I noticed that my cigarette didn't give off that much smoke on the exhale. After I started vaping, I understood.

Now that I've been vaping for 3 1/2 months, taste and vapor production are now equally important.. number 1. If I don't really enjoy a flavor, I won't vape it. Granted, some flavors have to grow on me, but if I don't love it after a day of vaping it, into the PIF pile it goes. Now I view my nicotine addiction the same way as my caffeine addiction. I won't buy instant nasty tasting coffee to get my caffeine fix, nor will I vape unpleasant flavors to appease my nic addiction. I have a choice now, which is why I love vaping :)

When I was looking into vaping, I had no idea that there was any flavor choices. I just thought it would be a solution that would actually work to quit. I never liked the taste of smoking, but you know when you are addicted to something, it doesn't really matter what the taste is. So the flavor was just the added bonus.

I have a very addictive personality. I only smoked for 6 years, but I couldn't give up the hand to mouth motion and things like that. For me to quit something, I need an ever bigger addiction. And e-cigarettes do that in a lot of ways. The quest for the best e-cig model, the quest for the best atomizer or cartomizer, the quest for the best flavor. Its really helped to distract me more then anything, and now that I've been off cigarettes for a while, I'm finding I like the flavors a lot more, cause now I can taste them. I guess the flavor is just another way to enjoy them for me, something you really couldn't do with cigarettes.
