My KBOX 200 the screen went bad after i had it long enough for the paint to chip badly... it was a great device but the screen is a common issue to go bad.
Check your batteries... is one significantly more drained than another? That sounds like an odd question, but I had a KBox 120 that started "winking" as you're describing, and it was draining one battery more than the other even when sitting on the shelf. Turns out there was a short on the board causing it to read the resistance every couple minutes...
