Why is Smok so popular?

I don’t have options. I live in what I refer to as the corn and beans district, so I’m driving 20 miles to the closest shop.
I buy my stuff online. There are only a few vapers I know around here, and they’ve never even heard of the gear I have.
They are so popular because every vape shop around me have at least half a dozen different smok mods... and ...this is just my very personal opinion........ they can have dual purpose... you can use them during Christmas time as modern Christmas tree ornaments...
Too bad the mods weigh too much to hang.
Exactly. We tell vapers to support their local shops, we tell newbies to use a brick and mortar to buy their first set. If this is all shops are carrying in some areas, this isn’t a good first experience for new vapers unless they’re really devoted to quitting smoking.

I've had a high failure rate with smok mods in the past and avoid them based on that experience. They are very good at filling the showcases at most of the shops in my area. I wonder sometimes if many new vapers walk out of the shop with them and end up thinking all vaping equipment is poor quality when/if their mod fails them.
Those of us who have to buy online get the benefit of more information and more quality choices. I'm glad I started vaping when the web was my only source of information and equipment. I've made some mistakes but ended up with stuff I really like to use that takes a beating.

Not every vaper is web savvy. My ex is one of them. He relied on me when we were together. He went and bought a second Smok mod because he had to go to a local vendor without me there to order him something. I predict in a couple weeks he will either be smoking again, or he will be texting me for links to something other then Smok.
I agree with the newbie problem. I started with an innokin t18. When I was looking for something with a bigger battery, a lot of what I could see online in nz stores were smok products.
Luckily for me I went with a nz vendor which separated out starter kits into mtl and DL. I knew enough I was mtl and stuck with the same brand innokin. But i could've easily got swayed by a flashy smok model.

Forums like this and reddit can be intimidating to those who aren’t web savvy. They would rely on their local vendors for recommendations. How many went back to smoking because their Smok set up failed after a couple weeks? How many bought Smok because that was the lions share of mods their vendor carried?
Here in NYC, to be honest, as long as the mod lasts for a couple weeks it pays for itself in saved cigarette money, but that isn’t the case in other parts of the country. If I wasn’t web savvy, didn’t have prior experience vaping, didn’t have a back up piece available and wasn’t located in NYC I’d have gone back to smoking.
In my defense the Provari mentioned DID die. They are definitely not indestructible.
Also in my defense, I prefer my cheap Kanger over Provari. Provari didn’t give me the power and versitility I wanted. I bought em cuz of shinyitis back when they were popular. I didn’t use them long.
I did literally run over an istick with my lawnmower, and I’m still using it. The tank cracked, but that mod doesn’t have a scratch on it. It had a tire track, but that wiped off.
Mass production done cheap can still be done passably well. I have a pretty low standard for set ups like these. 1) don’t blow up. 2) work at least 2/3rds of the time when I hit the fire button. It doesn’t need to work perfectly either. I can’t get temp control working right on the Wismec, but it’s all good because it still works in wattage mode. It fires at least 2/3rds of the time. Even when the screen died on the alien I had, I didn’t get truly peeved because the thing still fired. It wasn’t until it stopped firing all together that I considered the thing a total fail.

Not you. Just heading off any drama. I remember some from Back in the day. People calling Provari users snobs, Provari users claiming their vaped would survive the end of the world, that sort of thing. I fall into neither camp really. I like well made things and am prone to shinyitis, but I don’t knock the cheap stuff unless the cheap stuff gives me a real reason to.
