Why people blow vape "back to atty"?

It is effective especially if you use low gauge (thick) wire. It takes some time to ramp up. While providing a little airflow, you prevent the wire from getting too hot and you have a visual on how much vapor is produced.
Once the wire is heated up properly for a good vape, you stop purging and inhale a dense vape.
If you don't purge on this wire, the first couple pulls will be very airy and not so flavorful.

Like others said, once you start doing this, it's a tough habit to kick... people are creatures of habit.
It can cause condensation but this is not water, it's your e-liquid and it's not as conductive as water. I get leaks in my mods all the time and have never had a short. Just make sure you clean it up or it'll become a sticky mess.
