Why so little love for side by sides?

Over the last 24 month or so, mods became bigger and bigger due to increasing sizes of batteries and comically large tank attys. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact that I only need to change the battery and fill the tank once per day, that's awesome, however, some of those devices got to a point where they became not very portable anymore... Gone is the time in which the mod can be put in the pockets of your pants.
So, as far as I'm concerned, I got realy tired of those huge mods and went back to one of my first mods, no VV no VW no temperature control.... Its the REO mini..... Super small and tough as nails.
After a while I kept looking for something comparable but a non squonker mod. I found the Ministick with the 18650 extension.
I have it now for a few weeks and I'm sooooo happy with it.
It's just a tad larger than the REO mini but it carries the 18650 battery and the Kayfun V4. This mod would be quite a bit smaller than the REO mini if I take the battery extension off, which is very impressive.
I will very likely never buy another regular tube or box mod just due to its size.
I see only pros for side by sides, they are the perfect combination between small size and good battery/tank capacity, so I'm naturally wondering why they are so little loved?
What is your point of view?

Which of the regular 18650 mods is small once you put the atty on top of it?
I started vaping 4-5 years ago, at that time the ecig had the size of a pen.... If you compare the monstrosities which are currently being sold it becomes obvious that the size increased tremendously. Don't get me wrong, the new mods have XYZ times the capacity as the older ones, however, I just can't cope with their size anymore.

Haha, the Reonauts are actually a fine group of guys, can't say anything bad about them and the REO is still an awesome mod.
Google ministick, you'll see what a side by side is.

oh i didnt know there was a name for that. I never liked those because they look ugly to me. theres that bunny one and the kato box thing, didnt like either.

I know what you mean about small :) smaller is better for toting around, only thing is it needs an 18650 or battery life just isn't there.
The side by side hasn't taken off cause there really isn't nothing new and innovative. Today people want regulated mods with TC and all the features.
Here is a side by side that mite change that a bit, but it's expensive. Really nice though

I've big hands and dual battery mods are not a problem at all for me..That said my favorite dual battery mod is the ipv4. packs plenty of power and is very comfortable in the hand thanks to the taco shell battery cover. Its also very portable and slides easily in and out of my pocket.. Not to mention going for days on a single charge.
Most of my mech mods are 26650 and I don't have a problem with their size either. I think size is speculative .. Just my 2 cents :)

It seems like that lots of guys have larger hands than I do, larger pockets than I do or just don't care about the size.
I've seen the Xvo stick and I'm going to buy it once it finally made it to the market.
The reason why there are no cheap side by side options out there is that the clone factories did not start making them due to little demand.

When it comes to saving space in my pockets, the width of what I put in there generally has more of an impact on me than the height. Therefore, a device that's as wide and thick as a dual battery box mod doesn't really do anything for me as far as portability is concerned. When considering portable, pocketable devices, I would choose a narrower device like an rDNA40 or an iStick over something thick and bulky like a side-by-side (irrespective of height) any day of the week. In fact, I actually prefer slightly taller pocket devices because I find them easier to grab and pull out.

I wear Levi 501's most of the time..that said these mods fit easily in my front pocket with plenty of room.... I favor the IPV4 over the IPV3 for its rounded corners... The XXIX mech with the Arctic fits easily even in my shirt pocket.. All 4 are very portable and easy for me to tote wherever I may wander.. Lol

Perhaps the mod will fit in the pocket but the atty will stick out.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a mod the same size of an IPV4 without having another 3 inch atty sitting on top?
The side by side are about the same size (depth, width, height) and even smaller as the current box mods but they have the atty next to the battery reducing the height of the complete rig by a rather large margin.
Well, time will tell but my guess is that the side by side will gain momentum and hopefully get more mod- makers into the game. The XVO-stick is a step in the right direction.
It has a great chip and it's still considerably smaller overall than the current regulated box mods.

I agree OP. My all day vape is a Kato with a kick. It's too heavy for the size and too much bling for me but it disappears in pockets and doesn't twist around like tubes do.

My guess is the smaller market presence is because tubes and boxes were on the ground running first.
Did you try the ministick? It's pretty light, super durable and zero bling....

Lol
Bro, even with the Atty attached it does not stick out, not even close as its still at least three or four inches short. like I stated earlier it's very easy to slip in and out of my pocket.. For me it's a perfect size as is..
BTW, it would be rather pointless to carry my mod around in my pocket without the Atty attached, don't you think? Lol

I haven't but thanks for the suggestion. I didn't know it existed until recently and now I'm content to wait for the XVO.

Another benefit of side by sides that others might not be aware of is they're more stable standing in place.
