I was looking at some different E-cig's and found that there are high voltage models available such as 5v and 6v devices. Now I have an ego twist with LR cartos. Assuming 2.0ohm and vaping on 3.8v, that is 7.2 watts. Now say you are working with a 6v device with HV carto that has 5ohm. This is giving you 7.2 watts of power also. What is the difference here? Why would someone choose the high voltage device? I know the higher voltage device is going to end up giving ~.9 less amps overall. Is that the only +side?

Some of it has to do with until recently there wasn't very many vv's out that where cheap to buy. Also add to that batteries will last longer if you are vaping at 5 volts with a hv carto, so you may still be getting the 7.2, but if you already know that is what you like and it works with your juices, why spend the extra money on what you don't want.

    All part of the evolutionary process is all. A few years back the only way to get more than what a 3ohm atty on a 3.7v bat could give you was to have two batteries. The LR atties came along. Then VV PV's. Now we are starting to play with atties that will do at 4watts what the older ones needed 8watts to do. We're not even close to done yet with this. You really will see the day when vaping is an app on your iPhone.

    Since I'm new to this I suppose I might not be the one to answer but my 1:st reaction thoughts to the quest is:

    If you use this setup, you use 1.9 Amps

    U = 3,8V
    I = 1,9 A
    P = 7,22 W
    R = 2,0 ohm

    It's a lot of amps for that voltage. You will get a voltage drop for this amp draw.

    And with the 6 Volt system you use .5 Amps less for the same power giving you a longer vaping time.
    Also you have the ability to adjust your range a bit more if it's adjustable.
    The voltage drop will also be less here since you don't load your batteri as musch as above.

    U = 6.0 Volt
    I = 1.2 Amps
    P = 7.2 watts
    R = 5.0 Ohm

    My V2cig is Gen:2 using 4.2Volts saing producing a richer flavour and a better vapor compared to other with less voltage.
    I suppose you can draw a little bit harder/faster still getting the same result as a lower voltage cigg.

    I quit smoking with an Ego type but I was always craving. One day I bought a cheap 5V passthru for $15 bucks and my whole outlook on vaping changed. On HV, the flavors changed completely and the higher temperature of the HV really gave me the throat hit I was missing. I have tried all sorts of LR atties including a bunch of rebuildables and although a self wrapped 1.3ohm coil will give great flavor and plumes of vapor, it just doesn't give me the much needed throat hit.

    This is what I brought with me to work today. It's a full sized GGTS with an oversized Odysseus. This thing runs on 7.4V dual stacked 18350's and I wrapped a 4ohm coil. I'm running Bounty Hunter on this and I would rather have this than a Marlboro Red. Never ever thought I would turn down a Red but it's proof that vaping works.

    You can try HV on the cheap by buying a 5V passthru and see how you like it.

    Or you can use electronics that aren't so ........... 2009, and do the same thing.
