Ive been watching vids on line and see some people fill the build base with cotton and some people put just a tail of the wick going thru the coil sitting in the juice well.
From what i can understand just from thinking about it, if you dont fill the well with cotton then the juice will puddle and possibly spill out. But you wouldnt want to stuff the well full of cotton because then it wont hold as much juice as if ypu just put a thin layer of cotton in the juice well and have it lay over the top of the coil wick tails.

Am i thinking along the right lines here? Any comments on wicking a better way? Dual or single coil wicking opinions. Just trying to learn without having to learn the hard way. Ha.

When I wick my drippers I will try pretty hard to put my cotton along the outside edges of the the juice well. It creates a kind of pool in the center and no matter which way the juice goes it's going to get absorbed. I have tried filling the well with huge wicks and didn't feel like it was very efficient. Those are my opinions and what works for me though.

it all depends on the type tank/dripper you are using, like examples are
genesis style-- two or one ss wire through the deck with mesh rape were the coil is rapped
kayfun style-- you dont want to block the juice flutes an the wick material can sit anywhere else on the deck
auca style-- you got juice channels that the wick has to be inserted into too desired juice flow
taifun style-- will have a port to the tank that the wick has to pass through like how a genesis is
dripper are more forgiving since the wick dose not have to pass to a tank but want it be wick to the deck an a far amount of wick used to absorb juice

that are many way that these can be set up

Remember that it's not the juice in the cotton, it's the juice on the coil that gets vaped. This is why many folks use short and/or thin tails, since it provides a direct and short path from the pool of liquid to the coil. Having a lot of wicking in the well can help avoid leaking, but the coil then needs to suck the juice out through a long path of wick. This is particularly true with Rayon, which can draw liquid fantastically through very thin tails. (Particularly if you have wispy tails that spread out like tree roots throughout the well).

Thanks for the comments. Ive been putting cotton under the coil plus thru the coil and even though im running only one coil ive been putting cotton on that side of the build base too. Im finding that the juice dont wick very well from the side with no coil to the side with a coil. Ill have to rebuild again and try this all again.

As far as my equipment at this time: nemises mod with 18650 batt 20a. I think the addy is called mutation, one coil that is made with 6 strans of 28guage kanthal. Cant remember the name of the coil build but its 3 strans twisted left, 3 strans twisted right then dual wrapped on 2mm screwdriver. 6 wraps i think it came out to 0.28ohms. I made two of them. Mounted in the addy and tested and found 0.14. Too low for safetys sake.
hope thing start going better with my builds. Im going thru a 20m bottle of juice in 2.5 days. Love the clouds and flavor but this is costing me as much if not more than my smoking habbit.

Well, since you are looking into wicking styles, it might be helpful not to go crazy on the coil wrapping just yet and experiment with the simpler things. Things like airflow adjustments, coil positioning in correlation to air holes, juice blends and as you've already been looking into, wicking. Anyways, hope all goes well!

I find that when i start to get a dry hit ill open it up and add more juice but most of the cotton in the juice well is still wet. And the well is deep so im loosing a lot of juice in the well.
im on the road right now but ill see if i can pull out some cotton and rework it. When i stop of cource. I dont have any new cotton with me but ill see what i can do.

Ok. Much better. I took all the cotton out, put enough thru the coil so rhat the ends lay about an 1/8 inch across the juice well and threw the rest of the cotton in a bag just encase. Juiced it up and now im getting many more pulls on it before a dry hit. And when i do get a dry hit its because the well is empty. The wick is still a bit wet but not a bunch of cotton being wet and doing nothing for me.

Thanks to all of you for your help with this maybe now i wont be waisting so much cotton, it is cheep, or juice.
