will adding distilled water change % of flavor needed?

Hello! I have a bunch of recipes I been using for a while. All too often I find I'm adding distilled water once I get partially thru a 30/ 60 ml bottle for example.

Wondering if I start adding 3or 5% DW to my mixes to start -- would I need to adjust my %of flavoring? Our just keep flavor amounts the same? Thank you!

If you're asking whether the water mutes the flavor more than VG would, the answer is probably not because of the small amount of h2o involved. But if you are adding water without including it in your initial percentages, then of course you're diluting the flavor. I usually include 5% water which leaves me 95% to accommodate everything else. And I do not change my percentages because of the water. Sorry for the somewhat twisted explanation.

As Exchaner explained, if you're adding it to your final mix then yes, you're diluting your flavor. If you're including it into your base via your eliquid calculator, than no, water will not mute the flavorings involved (unless the water is tap water with a flavor of it's own).

What I do for the Ejuicemeup calc is add 'Water' as one of the flavors, and include it anywhere from 2-7% depending on the mix. I basically mark everything that's not PG(alcohol, water, VG) as VG on the calculator. So, for example,

Nic is 100mg VG.
Want to make 10mL 12mg "100%VG" juice.

Flavor A Alcohol 2%
Flavor B VG 12%
Flavor C Alcohol 1%
Water 6%

I'll need 1.2mL nic, 1.2mL Flavor B, .2mL Flavor A, .1mL Flavor C, and .6mL of water. I'll now need 6.7mL of VG and I'm done. No PG was included in the mix via flavorings or base, and the water was accounted for percentage-wise as one of the flavors.

I've been going all VG (flavoring not included) and adding 5-10% Distilled Water. As far as I can detect the DW doesn't mute the flavor at all. Sometimes I've even been adding an extra drop or 2 to a tank and even then I still really don't detect much if any difference in flavor. :vapor:

Cheers,
Steve

For those using VG stick to what I call the 80%/20% rule.

80VG to 20% everything else. 75%/25% is okay too. In a nutshell the 20% everything else is a combo of your flavoring, dw, or any other additives to your juice. The 80% is your nic and base of course.

Simply put unless there is something amiss with your coil or wick you will never get a burned or dry hit using high vg juice with these percentages in any atty, clearo, tank, ever.

Simple recipe example:
80% VG nic base
4% Hangsen turkish tobacco
16% distilled water.

Distilled water not only helps thin VG and/or PG properly but it also helps to carry/disperse the flavoring in VG much better and adds some density to the vapor.

I think my DIY Recipes taste Better (at the Same Flavor Percentage) with a Little Water than they do Without.

I would make a Batch of each and see what You think is Best.

If I add more than about 5% of water to my mixes, I get too much condensation buildup on my driptip. Am I the only one that this happens to????

As far as water diluting flavor, as previously stated repeatedly, not at all if added as a % of the initial mix.

Depends on the carto, I used to use these mini kanger 510 cartos that built up moisture in the tip no matter what concentration I used then I switch to T3's and kayfuns and never had that issue again. It's true the more water you use the moister the vape but it also has a lot to do with the hardware.

I mainly use rebuildables. Specifically with my Russian 91% and KFL clone, about halfway through the tank I have to remove the drip tip and drip tip adapter and blow out the moisture in the drip tip and dry the little well with a piece of tissue. If there is too much condensation, I notice a reduction in flavor. Call me crazy, you won't be the first or the last to do so, but it is notisable for me. :headbang:

That's not unusual for halfway through a tank. I often need to do that myself. I don't really regard it as much of a hastle. After all it takes what 30 secs. to do. Also replacing the stock drip tip with a larger tip will also help. I replaced my kayfun stock tip with a plastic tip not because of moisture issues just for the fact that I don't like the feel of cold hard metal in my mouth. With the mini's I used to use I couldn't go more then a half hour before the tip would saturate and I was sucking in nasty tasting juice liquid and that was a hastle.
