Most of the eliquids that we get are from Mt. Baker Vapor. I have really enjoyed the Bavarian Cream, Vanilla Custard, Moo juice, Strawberry Shortcake, Salacious Strawberry, Banana Cream Pie. Blue Moo for me was not quite "all that", but at the time I tried it we did not really have a stash built up, and I think it may have needed to steep a bit more. All the above from MBV, to me, need steeping.

Horchata from The Vapor Room was really good to me. Nice and creamy, the flavor reminded me of a good rice pudding. It is one of their "Flavors of the Week" this week through Sunday night - $10.00 for a 30 ml bottle. Use code "thankyou" for 10% off your order. I have never had the actual drink horchata, but I really enjoyed this eliquid.

If you decide to try Lucky 7, they have a Vanilla Bean Ice Cream that I have seen get good reviews. I have not tried it yet. Right now, Lucky 7 is a little slow on shipping, but they are working on it. I placed my order on April 23, and got it yesterday. Great prices, though. My daughter has already tried the Belgian Waffle that I ordered for her, and she told me this morning that that one is a win for her. We have not had a chance to try any of the other flavors we ordered from Lucky 7 yet.

You are indeed a kindred spirit!! Just visited the vaporroom.net. 30ml sale every Monday! It's dangerous!!

Next time DH needs to order juice I'll have him select from Lucky 7 so we can compare them to MBV.

I'm writing down your recommendations in my little vender notebook. Thanks for pointing me in a direction :)

gpc2012, I just looked up the SVD and VTR. I'll be happy to step up into SVD when it's time to replace/upgrade current hardware, but the VTR looks intimidating right now . Thank you for pointing me in an advanced direction! All the fancy hardware discussions have me truly flummoxed.

Your reply is leaving me wondering what's the best way to taste/sample juices without tainting a fresh tank? I read that drippers are user friendly for sampling but don't have a handle on what to get that will work well with my simple 510 Kanger batteries.

Is there another way to sample/taste I should look into?

MVP v2 and the Evic have both worked well for me. Simple plug in USB chargeable. I'm just not interested in external chargers at this point. I went with a rebuildable dripping atomizer for flavor testing but I wouldn't recommend trying that with a Kanger battery. Maybe try something like these with a drip shield.

KP Long Barrel Sealed Atomizer - Kidney Puncher
Empiremods Bridge Free LR510 1.8ohm

PG sensitivity would be irritation in the throat. PG does tend to dry the mouth out a little more though compared to VG.

Those 2 atomizers you linked to look great for sampling. I'm going to order one or two so they arrive in time for my juice sampling extravaganza!

THANKS Thundernoggin for your guidance through this process!!!

Sorry but I forgot to mention that The Vapor Room also gives you a free 15 ml sample with your first order from them, your choice. They also send a free 3 ml sample with every order. You can request a flavor if you care to, or just let them send you a "surprise". I asked for their Vanilla Custard as my 3 ml sample this order. We got their Vanilla Cupcake as a sample on a previous order, and my daughter said it was pretty good.

You are welcome, plenty of people here have helped me, just trying to do the same. I'd stay with 1.8 or above on the ohms if it were me. Remember drip shield, 510 to 510 adapter, and drip tip. I'm sure one of those vendors would be happy to help you pick out the right stuff. And study up on using them before hitting the buy button.

Sitting here unable to taste anything I sense that there's a film in my mouth. Drinking water wets my mouth but there's still a coating. Is that PG? Could it be sensitivity to PG?

Actually, it's most likely VG. Coughing upon first learning to vape is a nearly universal phenomenon, especially until one gets the hang of the mouth inhale. :) PG issues would include a very sore throat, among other things, so don't assume your initial reactions had anything to do with PG.

Although VG lends a fuller "mouthfeel" to vapor, it also carries flavor less well than PG, and can feel heavy or greasy in your mouth or chest.

I will go out on limb here and actually suggest you try a sampler of HIGH PG juices, such as Halo, or order a sampler from another vendor of juices in a 70/30 pg/vg ratio. :)

Good luck!

Think I'll go with KP because positive reviews were easy to find and just finished watching a how to prepare and use video on YouTube. She made it look easy for beginners. Was wondering if I needed the drip shield and connector. You read my mind :)

Found one negative review on Empiremods bridge free LR510. Reviewer stated Empiremods very reputable, just the atomizer was complicated and did not perform.

I'm really looking forward to getting to our next destination and collecting our vape mail. The drippers will be fun to use in sampling the juices from our new venders. Crossing my fingers and toes that they will be performing a musical on my taste buds :)

Thanks glointhedark! Since I'm still determining what level my juice needs are, I'm choosing to sample from venders of different price points.

I'm pretty certain WHEN I get passed this flavorless obstacle my next vender orders will be from Lucky 7, The Vapor Room and Ahlusion.

Dang those folks at The Vapor room know how to set the hook!

This forum is so full of enthusiasm. I've only been vaping about a month and I'm happily gobbling up opinions and knowledge from experienced vapors. DH started when I did and it's been smooth vaping from day one. OTOH I'm struggling with many factors which I'm trying to patiently work through. I'm a huge fan of sensory experiences so I hope this vaping odyssey won't be the start of a huge let down.

Before we left for our month long passage up the coast I placed my first juice order with MBV. We have all Kanger, VV and standard 1000 mAh batteries, T3 and Mini Protank 3 tanks.

1. Coughing after vaping. I realize that I'm coming off analogs and some purging will be necessary. Thanks to a thread I read I've begun doing mouth hits instead of lung hits which makes it less harsh.
2. Right eye twitching. Might be due to higher nic level, I'm vaping 12 and 6 but feeling I should step down to 6-0. Read an article that said tonic water, which has quinine, relaxes muscles. This helped. Also read a thread that recommended calcium and magnesium to replace lost minerals due to vaping. Don't have access to Gatorade ATM but will give it a try when I can.
3. My biggest problem is I'm unable to taste or enjoy the juice. Been drinking loads of water, brushing, popping cinnamon tic tacs, adding loads of hot sauce to foods in an attempt to wake up taste buds. Changing to mouth hits helped ... DH is loving every flavor I chose from MBV. I OTOH am having a DULL experience. All the MBV juices have extra flavor shots, have been caps off steeped for 2 days when we first got them and I shake them occasionally. The only one I moderately enjoy is hazelnut coffee.

I've recently placed juice orders wih AiV, Nirvana, Gothic, Juicy Vapes so that they'll have time to steep when we pick them up at our next destination. I'm REALLY hoping switching to organic flavoring and higher VG will make vaping more effervescent. I'm not slamming MBV, DH will happily continue to vape them. I'm stuck vaping them for another 2 weeks and I've got my hopes high that one of the juices I ordered will take me closer to Nirvana. But it's 2+ weeks away and I'm anxious. Will "Gourmet", organic juices provide a DRAMATIC change in vaping experience? I can't wait to find out. Please tell me what happens at the end of the movie!!! I hope the handsome lead character doesn't die :(

Suggestions on alternative equipment is definitely welcome. I plan to rebuild our coils in the future because I like tinkering and gear. Since we live on our boat I'm not sure DIY juices is in my future for practical and storage reasons, but I might be talked into it :)

Thanks for reading...

The right eye twitching reminds me of a symptom I used to get.
I used to get a ;;; when I looked at certain checkered patterns, the patterns would shimmer.
This was a few years ago; I can't exactly say when it started, but there came a time when I got some checkered patterned short pants and that's how I noticed the shimmering;
Then eventually I ended up in hospital for a month and couldn't smoke; then out of hospital I noticed I wasn't seeing the shimmering anymore.
Then as my smoking gradually picked back up, the shimmering came back.
So: at that point I said aha! this shimmering thing has something to do with smoking.

Then when I started vaping, I noticed at that point that the nicotine would bring the symptom, but not if I keep the nicotine low or 0.

These days I vape approx 6mg liquids and I still often take a glance at a checkered cloth to crosscheck whether I see any shimmer, and sometime I see a slight bit; so I use it like a thermometer to tell me if I'm vaping too much nic.

My suggestion for former smokers converting to vaping -
don't waste money on too much eliquids at the start;

it's a common mistake we all make; the flavor chase; don't look for perfection - just find something you can work with.

first of all your tastebuds are going to change.

Secondly, you juice can taste a whole lot different if you vape it on different hardware.

oh and third - eliquids are basically way overpriced so-to-speak because of the high demand from the booming industry.

Invest more on the hardware side of things; backups and variety are usefull.
A variety of tanks can be important.

Once I got my first glass tank, I found I couldn't vape the plastic stuff anymore.

Once I got VW I stopped taking power off the wall because cord for that only had vv.

edyle, WoW what a story! It's good to hear that you're no longer isolated in a hospital!
And you've got the symptoms and nic under control.
Your story supports my theory that too much nic is causing my eye twitch. Glad to know that there's a simple solution to mitigate this symptom.

I don't think I'll look at tiny checkered patterns again without thinking of you :) though a little bit of shimmer could be fun in the right moments ;-)

edyle, your advice about flavor chasing makes sense. For me it's so much easier to fantasize about flavors than it is to untangle hardware. Understanding that the proper hardware tweaking can change the way juice tastes, I will allow my new juices time to grow on me while I play with ohms, volts and dripping. All good stuff!

Thanks for sharing your advanced hardware wish item. I will revisit this topic and check out the recommended equipment. Someday it will become apparent that this is where I must be.

Ahhhhh, all the fun toys... I thought vaping was supposed to save money ?!

My guesstimate:
Take 1 year your old cigarette budget, and divide that by 2; Plan to break even in that one year.

That's a good idea. So if spending is up in initial investment it will taper off and I can adjust later to meet target. Also, there's two of us and DH smoked double what I did so my budget just tripled :)

Well you can work out your monthly vape budget at half what you used to spend (per month), and each month load that on one of those reloadable credit cards to keep it in check, and if you want something and there's enough on the card go ahead and buy it.
Between the two of you, something that might at first look expensive could end up being well within budget while still saving money.

If you spend too much on liquids though, at 50c a milliliter, you'll never be able to save much I think; gotta do some DIY.
I buy 24mg PGonly and add glycerin to it to slash my eliquid budget. If I could find a source of PG where I live I'd save bigtime.

Myeyelash, your lifestyle sounds so interesting - living on your boat, etc. Always thought that would be high adventure.

I've been vaping for 9 months now and I suspect there is a wide variation in experience among people. I definitely remember being rather disappointed at first, as everything tasted so....subtle, muted. Nevertheless, it was enough to quell the desire for a cigarette, even after 47 years. Thank you, God!! :p

I'd say that time is the biggest factor on your side - for your taste buds to settle, to get used to the vaping experience in general, to gradually experiment with different equipment and flavors, even different styles of vaping (i.e. mouth inhale, lung inhale, big clouds, moderate clouds, under what circumstances, nic level, maybe even 0 nic; etc., etc.) What I do and use now is different from when I began....yours will be too, probably. There's no rush - relax, savor the journey, and expect your experience to improve with time. You'll learn that it ain't smoking - but it is all around better! Good luck!
