Myeyelash, your lifestyle sounds so interesting - living on your boat, etc. Always thought that would be high adventure.

I've been vaping for 9 months now and I suspect there is a wide variation in experience among people. I definitely remember being rather disappointed at first, as everything tasted so....subtle, muted. Nevertheless, it was enough to quell the desire for a cigarette, even after 47 years. Thank you, God!! :p

I'd say that time is the biggest factor on your side - for your taste buds to settle, to get used to the vaping experience in general, to gradually experiment with different equipment and flavors, even different styles of vaping (i.e. mouth inhale, lung inhale, big clouds, moderate clouds, under what circumstances, nic level, maybe even 0 nic; etc., etc.) What I do and use now is different from when I began....yours will be too, probably. There's no rush - relax, savor the journey, and expect your experience to improve with time. You'll learn that it ain't smoking - but it is all around better! Good luck!

freeatlast, your user name resonates with living aboard and cruising lifestyle :) someone once printed that cruising is 90% bordom and 10% terror. That's pretty accurate. In between things break, anchor drags, plan plan plan for weather windows, where to do laundry, where to provision, when to get cell service, loads of variables to work around. But the reward is a new view every time the current or wind spins us around, we don't have to live around cranky neighbors, climate control is based on latitude, freedom.

Living aboard has certainly taught me to slow waaay down. Anything new has a plethora of logistical challenges, even things as mundane as receiving mail.

You are like Buddha, reminding me to slow down and embrace the way. Thank you.

ATM we have enough gear and juice ordered to embrace this new experience for quite a while. That is a peaceful feeling....

I really appreciate the support I've been given by this group. I was having high expectations of loving vaping from the start. But my take off has been turbulent. DH (who had no expectations) is gliding on a continuous cloud of vapor, while I cough, twitch and struggle with burning coils and burning curiosity if vaping is right for me.

In one day I've learned about advanced gear, how to sample juices, been given great advice about how to set and manage within a budget, received tailored recommendations regarding venders and flavors that resonate with my tastes, and encouragement from souls who have been where I'm at.

Whenever I had cell service I read and read and read what I could, but the advice here has been personal and so valuable.

Thank you!!

Once I got my first glass tank, I found I couldn't vape the plastic stuff anymore.

Same here, I have Aspire BDC pyrex tanks on my smaller pv's and a Nautilus for my Provari. I am using my iclear 30S on my Provari now though because for some reason the bottom of my Nautilus is stuck like glue and I haven't been able to fill the darned thing. I have tried hot water and the freezer; next I am going to try just soaking it for a bit and see what happens.

This forum is so full of enthusiasm. I've only been vaping about a month and I'm happily gobbling up opinions and knowledge from experienced vapors. DH started when I did and it's been smooth vaping from day one. OTOH I'm struggling with many factors which I'm trying to patiently work through. I'm a huge fan of sensory experiences so I hope this vaping odyssey won't be the start of a huge let down.

Before we left for our month long passage up the coast I placed my first juice order with MBV. We have all Kanger, VV and standard 1000 mAh batteries, T3 and Mini Protank 3 tanks.

1. Coughing after vaping. I realize that I'm coming off analogs and some purging will be necessary. Thanks to a thread I read I've begun doing mouth hits instead of lung hits which makes it less harsh.
2. Right eye twitching. Might be due to higher nic level, I'm vaping 12 and 6 but feeling I should step down to 6-0. Read an article that said tonic water, which has quinine, relaxes muscles. This helped. Also read a thread that recommended calcium and magnesium to replace lost minerals due to vaping. Don't have access to Gatorade ATM but will give it a try when I can.
3. My biggest problem is I'm unable to taste or enjoy the juice. Been drinking loads of water, brushing, popping cinnamon tic tacs, adding loads of hot sauce to foods in an attempt to wake up taste buds. Changing to mouth hits helped ... DH is loving every flavor I chose from MBV. I OTOH am having a DULL experience. All the MBV juices have extra flavor shots, have been caps off steeped for 2 days when we first got them and I shake them occasionally. The only one I moderately enjoy is hazelnut coffee.

I've recently placed juice orders wih AiV, Nirvana, Gothic, Juicy Vapes so that they'll have time to steep when we pick them up at our next destination. I'm REALLY hoping switching to organic flavoring and higher VG will make vaping more effervescent. I'm not slamming MBV, DH will happily continue to vape them. I'm stuck vaping them for another 2 weeks and I've got my hopes high that one of the juices I ordered will take me closer to Nirvana. But it's 2+ weeks away and I'm anxious. Will "Gourmet", organic juices provide a DRAMATIC change in vaping experience? I can't wait to find out. Please tell me what happens at the end of the movie!!! I hope the handsome lead character doesn't die :(

Suggestions on alternative equipment is definitely welcome. I plan to rebuild our coils in the future because I like tinkering and gear. Since we live on our boat I'm not sure DIY juices is in my future for practical and storage reasons, but I might be talked into it :)

Thanks for reading...

I had issues the first few months too, it'll even out. The vapers tongue went away for me, I don't have to cheat it by switching all the time like most people, but then I dont vape very much after a year, maybe 1ml a day if that. I would definitely NOT recommend MBV unless you absolutely can't afford anything better, MBV is trash. Its probably responsible for your issues in part, they were one of the first companies I bought from and I ended up giving away $50 worth of juice because I absolutely could not vape it, hurt my throat and chest and made my gums and tongue swell, felt like vaping windex. I gave away most of the cheaper stuff I bought at the beginning after I started buying stuff like AiV, HHV, 5 pawns, etc...Oh, and the twitching and stuff also went away but it may be because I started with 18mg juices and now vape 6 and 0.:2c:
