I started off directly with DIY liquid kit. What I found is the recipe included with the kit gave me the after "Altoid" sensation. Now I use crushed Menthol crystals and have backed off the menthol to my tastes.

If you happen to have something to cut your liquid with like PG/VG or unflavored nic liquid you can adjust it to your taste. Of course adding these reduces whatever other flavors are present in your juice.

I get the Menthol sensation that I prefer now without nuking my taste buds and ruining my palette for food, coffee, etc. Menthol has a anesthetic property from what I read which is probably why I like that sensation. But too much yes can kill your taste buds similar to strong mint candies, mouthwash, and breath fresheners.

I noticed the same thing. Chocolate mint was my all day vape for quite a while. When I decided to try some of the other flavors everyone raves about (eg waffle, french toast, mrs T's bakery essentials) they all tasted the same. I put them all in a drawer. One day I ran out of choco mint and smoked cappuccino for a day. Then went back to try some of the faves. OMG, waffle and french toast are amazing, the same goes for some of bakery essentials flavors. My sense of taste was just numbed by the mint. I still love my choco-mint but I switch off so I can enjoy the others. Hope this helps. :)

I'm a long time menthol-head. I just branched out and started liking "flavors". I find that if I have an "off day" with my taste-buds or different flavors, going back to my "all day menthol vape" seems to clear everything up for me.

I don't vape "sinus clearing menthol" blast liquids though. My menthol isn't sweet or strong - it's just mellow and rather pure, and it is menthol - not mint.

Everyone is so different as far as their taste buds and perception.

I do agree about the coffee though. I find that drinking a good cup of coffee will also reset my taste most of the time.
