but was posted on another thread he explained it perfectly for himself and its the same for me it was my cravings for cigarettes that were being threatened so any and everything that would take me away from my cigarettes i wouldn't want to touch with a 10 foot pole!
This is too true... At first I was almost threatened by the e-cig, as the cigarettes were telling me 'pshhhhh you're never going to leave me or find anything better'. Gradually, I'm feeling a sense of freedom and realising just how psychologically as well as physically damaging cigarettes are. Thanks for this. :)

After you have been vaping a good while that will get easier, when I go out drinking with my buddies (they all smoke) I'll bum one and be sickened by it by the time I'm finished with it and not smoke another one all night. In the beginning I would have bought a pack afterwards on the way home but not anymore. Even still if I have a cigarette while out drinking it's not a big deal because when I get home I am back to vaping full time.

Recently though I have got one of them very interested in vaping which gives me hope that one day we all might be out drinking and vaping.
Good for you! I would love it if my friends would start! Would make life much easier :)

Been vaping a year after 35 years of cigarettes.. While I can't say I want a cigarette. They taste horrible, although I do still enjoy the smell of a burning one. I do find myself, picking up the wifes pack, once in a while. Even get one out of the pack, before I notice. I think it's more a muscle memory thing, though. Need a Nicotine fix.. You grab the familar chipboard box, instead of the aluminum one. Don't expect the CRAVINGS to go away till I quit Vaping or Die. Or maybe when I accept that Vaping is not smoking, without the smoke. For what it's worth, this site is the ONLY place I call my "Cig Thingy" a Vape. In life its the Cig Thingy or E-cig and I SMOKE it.

For most vapers I think the cravings will definitely go away. It is different timing for everyone, some quit smoking and stick to vaping from day 1 and some dual use for months or years. It really doesn't matter how long it takes because every time you find yourself vaping you are not smoking. So that's got to be a good thing right? And if you smoke sometimes, well then you do... but at least you are smoking less.

What I have noticed though is that most smokers that totally convert to vaping find the cravings for smoking stop when vaping becomes more enjoyable for them than smoking. There just seems to be a time that you realize you are looking forward to that fresh strawberry vape, or custard, or whatever flavor you find that just hits the please sensor in you. In other words, you reach a point that you are craving the strawberry vape... not the cigarette. That's when smoking loses it's hold on you and if you every light up a cigarette at a crazy bar party or something you will wish you were vaping your strawberry instead. It's kind of a zen moment at that point and you just know that you're a vaper and would only smoke again if there was no way to vape... and you would be craving the vape the whole time while you settled for the smoke. Odd, but it really is a thing that happens to most vapers at some point. And you can't rush the realization, it just kinda happens when it happens. But you'll know it when it does happen, and you'll just kick back with your strawberry vape and say...cool.

Hi everyone. I'm very new to vaping and have just got into it the past 2 weeks because my friend recommended it. At first I was sceptical and didn't really see how it could work for me, so I vaped for a few minutes and then just lit up a regular cigarette. But I'm enjoying it more and more now... I've gone from smoking around 10-15 cigarettes a day to hardly any at this point. The problem is, I'm still getting cravings for regular cigarettes (especially when I'm drinking alcohol) and have had a couple here and there which disappoints me. I see people saying how they went from smoking a pack a day to 0 just like that after they discovered vaping and this just isn't happening for me. I wonder if anyone else experienced something similar to me at first, and more importantly, will this go away so I can enjoy a life without cigarettes and just be happy vaping? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! (Apologies for rambling on!)

Two weeks is a bit too early. It took me about 2 months. During that period if I was going to visit a place or do an activity I often associated with smoking, I'd vape beforehand.

I really want one when I smell my friends light a cigarette... love that smell. Not so much afterwards, when you realise your hair stinks of an ash tray. :sneaky:

thats how I was for about the first first months, it would smell good kinda felt like those cartoons theres a baked pie by the window and the delicious fumes entice you and next thing you know the scent in floating you towards that pie lol, but after the few months trying different juices your palette becomes more refined with all the great juices out there you kind of become a snob on how you take in your nicotine now and the cigarette smoke for me is revolting and if someone is smoking near me i take shorter breathes or hold my breathe till that nasty smelling cloud has thinned out or is gone

I was talking about this tonight with the wife, about how I totally prefer vaping over smoking now. Don't miss the cigs much at all anymore. And like you say, there was just that moment when the heavens part and you "get it". Each at their own pace. Don't compare yourself to anyone else - it all comes at our individual pace.

Yes. In a few months, if you give it enough time, you'll try a cigarette out of curiosity and it will make you sick and you'll wonder why you ever did it. The only thing cigarettes have over vaping is form factor. Cigarettes win for looking cooler (if you don't count the cancer, emphysema and stinking all to be damned). After all, no movie has ever included the hero flicking his mod into a fuel trail that ignites down the street and blows up the bad guys.

I experienced this a little last night... I ordered 10 new liquids and was choosing between all these flavours I never even knew existed. I'm actually really excited for the package to arrive and to try them out and see what works for me! I'm such a loser haha :)

Hahaha true! Not quite the same effect.... but I'm beginning to care less and less what people think about the vape and am actually really enjoying it now. It's been 3 full days now I haven't smoked a single cigarette! woo :)

And if its the throat hit you're missing, try some juice at a 50/50 ratio, that'll help. (I started out with 50/50 juice, and when I first tried high vg juice it was a BIG disappointment, as I could barely tell I was inhaling anything, and the flavor just wasn't there....older vapers remember using even higher pg juice, say 80%, when that was all that was around)

That is the case for me. It was the throat hit that I was missing. I actually vaped 100% PG for a long while. You can still order that from VapeDudes. Not sure if other places customize like that. I now vape 80% PG, 20% VG. The 100% PG is very thin and would leak in most of my tanks.

To the OP..... stick with it. Like others have said, smoking one cigarette is better than a pack a day. And I'll bet you smell nicer, too! :)

It can take time from person to person and craving a cigarette is not strange.
What I didn't do was cave I just stayed and chain vaped and eventually craving went less and less and less
Thanksgiving after 2 years of vaping the smell was drawing me in but I didn't smoke it....
I did in past and cigs just taste horrible after we Vape and Vape...
Good Luck

Thanks very much and thanks for sharing your story... Can I ask... do you find yourself spending less overall on vaping as apposed to smoking cigs? I've just spent like $100 on liquids, but hoping in the longrun this will last me and will be cheaper than cigs. Thanks :)
