the CD case had a little pulsating red LED on the side that was run buy a single AAA battery... it lasted a good two years of blinking though...

Crap, I would have bet money that I had it right.

Battery's self titled first album was on the rare 7" format (so didn't fit in CD cases very well), and the group and album were called Battery.
