I just got schooled! Thanks for the info
@zapped!
Lol no problem.
On the outside I come across as a crusty curmudgeon but on the inside I'm just a rough tough creampuff.
You might be interested to know that clearomizers have been around since before 2009. Most of us avoided them like the plague back then because they all leaked like sieves.
Ego made the first tank that I can recall. It was really just a small plastic reservoir that you punctured with a special dripping atty. It had a spike on the end. Then gravity dripped just enough liquid inside so you didnt have to.
Had to fill the Ego-T's ten times a day though.
It wasnt too long after that, that the first real tanks, or carto tanks were born, right here on these very forums. Talented modders punched or slotted a hole in their cartos and then placed them inside a plastic or glass test tube that was then sealed with cork or rubber grommets....after filling them with ejuice of course.
This kept the carto wet and virtually eliminated those pesky dry hits that made us hate cartos so bad.
The we started using pyrex coupled with delrin or machined metal top caps that were sealed with o-rings.
China saw this and quickly adapted it to their clearomizers...giving us the ViVi Nova and later incarnations including the Nautilus.
They even adapted the tank style to dripping or rebuilding atomizers as well.
And there you have the history of all the various "tanks" in a nutshell.
