Ouch!! That's way to pricey for me. I think I'll just design my own.:2c::laugh:

Not saying your not capable, because I have no idea. But the dna isn't the average cheap boost circuit.

I would think a small run of custom bare pcb's would be cost prohibitive in comparison...but then IDK

I will be interested to see what you come up with.

Dealing with PCB's isnt all that hard. In the past I have ordered what's known as "Bare Bones" PCB's, and get some pretty amazing prices using this technique. But, I also etch my own PCB's, and really get dirt cheap thatt-away. Etching my own PCB's I have been able to etch down to 8mil trace width - not to bad for garage stuff.

Here's the datasheet on the DNA20D........ a lot in a small package....... if you are going to build your own with all these features I must say you are very well versed...

http://evolvapor.com/wp-content/uploads/dna20.pdf

I never had the intention of using all the features offered. For instance, I will never vape at 20WATTS. So I don't need that.

I doubt that most people using these DNA20s are using all the features either.

I don't see paying all those big bucks for stuff I won't use.

Most peeps don't vape at 20 watts.....can't wait to see your Variable Wattage design.....that is what makes modding interesting....heck, if ya can do it cheaply, you may have something there.....lets us know when ya get-r-done.....and pictures would be great....

I agree...I don't use anywhere close to 20 watts....but the rest of the features are nice and really can't think of anything besides the max watts that I would be ok without.

Yep, it's nice to see your battery level, ohm reading, wattage reading, voltage reading, and nice to get an error message when something is not quite right......all shown on a display.....most peeps I know like and use these features...after all, most of these features are by default and just appear during normal operation...

Even thoug I normally vape much lower (12-14W), I think the 20W is nice. It offers some overhead so you're not squeezing every bit of power out of your device, stressing components, generating heat, etc.

That being said. I have, on occasion, vaped as high as 30W (on an OKR-t/6 mod) and having this kind of power at your disposal is exhilarating.

30W???:confused::confused:

You don't need the DNA20, what you need is to hook into a Lightsocket, and use 110V AC :D
And while your at it, connect up the oscilloscope for your readout.

Getting closer.....went with a 1200mah round nano....just need to finish up the bottom plate and cut out for the charger....and maybe paint the body (doubtful :D)

Real nice at that. You switched away from the 18650?

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

Yeah I'm getting a couple of mechanical mods and I don't have that many 18650's. that's kind of a lame excuse for not wanting to make an easy removable door. It wasn't working out like I wanted and the lipo fit with room for the charger so that is direction I went.

I have a design close to finished to send to shapeways that will have a removable housing for a 18650. Plus I have housings mocked up for 26650 as well as some for lipo's. Basicly a modular concept for one DNA and multiple battery options.

The grey piece is the battery housing and the yellow housing for the DNA and atty connection.

Pretty great bap. This shape and design is basically exactly what I want. I'm using the 'fistpack' cell battery housing which is designed for an 18650. I originally wanted to fit 2x turnigy 1200mah round lipo in there but it might be tricky with DNA20d in that case. It's awfully hard to beat the 18650 for that level of capacity in a compact size, the available rounds and flats seem to be not quite shaped most advantageously.
