Wire and Cotton for RDA's

I am expecting my rda to arrive in the next while and I was wondering if I can purchase the wire/cotton at hardware stores rather than ordering online from ecig vendors. If I can I am wondering what I need to look out for as far as wire material, cotton type etc. All I really know is that the cotton needs to be organic.

Also if anyone can recommend stores in Canada, specifically Ontario that would be great!

I found organic cotton at the local drugstore. Apparently organic cotton is what you're looking for. I couldn't find the wire at the hardware store, but they had it at the vape shop. A shop can tell you what kind of wire and build is best for your particular rda.

you want to look for Kanthal A-1 grade 32 - 28 ga ( maybe even 26) as far as cotton goes... pretty much any cotton ball used for cleaning skin etc. General concensus swings towards organic types...

Is Kandthal a type of wire or is it a brand??

I think Kanthal is a type. The other option is Nichrome I believe, but that's off the top of my head. Not sure where to get it at a brick and mortar.

Personally I would get it online. It will be far cheaper. Shop around though, the prices on the same wire vary greatly. I would check out RipTrippers on youtube and look for a specific build on the RDA you ordered. He knows his stuff when it comes to building. He annoys some people but really just cracks me up.

You can also use 100% cotton cheesecloth, available from Wally world or any home store. Boil the batch once or twice, let it air dry overnight, and you're set for years to come. I also believe the mesh and weave of cheesecloth gives it strength, so they last me longer than cotton balls, but that's just an opinion.
I've not seen heating wire at hardware or home stores, and I know lots of folks have looked.
B&M vape shops are starting to carry kanthal and rebuilding materials more and more. I have several in my area to get wire and wick from if I needed it. Perhaps your local shops carry wire.

Amanda is correct. Woven cotton products typically use binders in the fibers, and so should be boiled. Natural cotton balls are clean.

My plan is to buy organic cotton balls at the drugstore and kanthal off of eBay. It's $3.45 including shipping on eBay for the US. I'm sure you can find Canadian sellers with similar prices. B&M store and even online stores seem to charge to much to me. (I'm poor and a cheapskate lol)
