Anyone know where to get stainless steel mesh and/or kanthal wire locally? Hopefully a big box store such as Home Depot, Lowes, Radio Shack or something of that nature? No B&Ms that I know of are located where I am or are too far and all the "smoke shops" near me are outrageously expensive.

I've tried at places like Lowes and Home Depot but they don't carry Kanthal Wire.

Temco is THE place to buy wire, in my opinion. Great prices, fast shipping, quality product. Often they have sales too! I just bought a 100 foot roll of 30 gauge kanthal from them for under $5.
OKCvapes is a good place to buy mesh. Steammonkey often stocks some too. I bought my last mesh from The Mesh Company in the UK. It seems expensive at first and the wait might be a week or more depending on where you live but they throw in *at least* one free sheet of quality mesh for every sheet you buy. I'm almost embarrassed to say how many free sheets they put in my last order. If you can afford the wait and have $20+ to spend these guys should hook you up with enough mesh to roll at least a year's worth of wicks:

I agree go on ebay this company will sell copious amounts of wire and very quick on the shipping bought my 30gauge and my 28gauge from them and pretty soon ill prob buy some 32gauge from them
Temco is the place for wire, if you need silica wick amazon.com is a good place. Not much luck on SS mesh on big stores. Either some online vape stores or ebay is your friend for this item.
I get 28 gauge wire too, my intention was to have more coils (for desired resistance) and distribute heat to a large area to have more vape before having a burning taste (considering the wicking is good) . I think it works.
I don't think there's been any mention of this, but I get all my Kanthal wire from...wait for it... Wait for it... Temco!! Got mine through eBay.
