Hello all! I'm not new to the rebuilding scene, but I am new to the wire rope party.

I'm setting up my Bliss with two wire rope wicks. The tops are covered with a decent thickness of regular mesh, and just enough so the mesh barely enters the wick holes. I'm wrapping my 30g coils, intending the resistance to come out to about 0.7 - 0.8 ohms.

All parts of the wicks have been oxidized with the fires of Hell.

But yet... I can not for the life of me get rid of the hotspots! My Bliss always makes me work to get rid of the hotspots at the top, but this is insane. Sometimes it looks like half of the coil is hotspotting at once!

I'm just wondering if anyone who uses wire rope has any idea why this is happening. Are wire rope wicks more prone to hotspots? I don't see how I can oxidize them more (I spend nearly five minutes each with my torch, and then a few juice burns). I don't have any pictures because I got frustrated and destroyed the coils, but they looked like pretty fine coils if I do say so.

Any ideas?
