Parallel dual coils in Kanthal A-1@ 45 watts (reasonable true value) using 26 or 27 gauge...
  • 26 ga. will provide more surface area at a lower perceived vape temperature - HF = 199 mW/mm².
  • 27 ga. will provide less surface area at a warmer perceived vape temperature - HF = 282 mW/mm².
Heat flux (HF) is the coil(s) radiant heat, expressed in milliwatts per millimeter of coil surface area... squared. For our purposes... it's simply how warm you perceive your vape to be.

Assuming you're not into high heat flux... In a single coil, 24 gauge with the wattage turned down to 34 or less...
  • HF = 300 mW/mm² @ 34W
  • HF 265 mW/mm² @30W
  • HF~ 221 mW/mm² @25W
