Dear All,

After I got LUXOTIC MF BOX, I was totally obsessed with it, I have looked into it for two days to admire the appearance and study the function.

I was amazed by the aesthetics and ergonomics of LUXOTIC. The Luxotic line is truly innovative and ingenious with the semi-regulated squonk box LUXOTIC BOX and the switchable LUXOTIC NC. However, the LUXOTIC MF BOX is the latest model of Luxotic line with MF stands for “multi-funtional”.

What I like the most about this box is the color. The nice brushed silver makes it look classy and elegant. The spine of the device has cut corners and gives it a half hexagon shape. With all these edges and design, I feel very comfortable with holding it in my hand.

Also, I am very impressed with its multi-functions and versatility. It brings a lot of DIY fun for the vaping experience. The two-in-one design can be used both as a sqonker like LUXOTIC BF BOX and a common box like LUXOTIC NC. The device comes with two ergonomically designed circuit boards choices, which are direct output board with faddish indicator lights and variable voltage board with a 0.91inch OLED screen. Another highlight of this device is that the 18650 and 21700 cell can be used interchangeably.

You may ask, how to change the circuit board? When the device was arrived, I was not looking forward to swapping circuit boards as I consider myself a clumsy guy. But I found out it was not that intimidating as it looks. To change circuit boards, you just need to unscrew screws from the outside of the device, remove the plate, then you can see the circuit board. Next step, you just need to unscrew the circuit board and replace it.

Luckily, after using the Luxotic as a regulated device, I found that it had bypass mode, so I don't need to swap circuit boards as I can use the device if I wish exactly the same with the regulated board fitted as with the direct output board by simply using it in bypass mode. At this point, the direct output board does not make much sense. But if you are a DIY pursuer, you can enjoy the fun by swapping the boards.

I've been using this mod for the past few months now and am very pleased with it. Build quality is excellent, although like my Reuleaux RX2, the door is ever so slightly loose which can be a bit irritating if you like a rattle free vape.

The menu is easy to navigate, although the device seems a bit quirky in that it remembers the highest wattage last set until switched off. So if you increase the wattage from, say 20W to 30W, the mod will continue to run at 30W even if you reset it to 20W. When powered off, it will then return to 20W. I'm not sure if this a feature or a firmware fault, but this is different from what I would expect. Otherwise, the display is clear and can be inverted so can be clearly seen by left or right handed users. Being left handed, I found this very useful.

Temperature control seems good when compared with my other mods, and the weight and balance of the mod with a 18650 or 21700 is just right. I haven't tried the mod in twin battery mode yet, the battery life is to be expected in single battery mode so I always have some spares to hand.

Squonk wise, some reviewers have criticized the design of the offset bottle, and the difficulty in locating this in the recessed nozzle. I haven't experienced this, I find it easier to gently pull the silicon tubing out the bottle, and then refill it and gently slide it back into place. Others mentioned the possibility of insulation damage to the battery by pressing the metal flap, but this can be overcome by using an 18650 with the provided hard plastic adapter or the flap dispensed with entirely. This is not a safety issue in situ as the negative terminal of the battery is grounded to the case (I checked this with a multimeter), but it worth mentioning, as always, that worn or damaged battery wraps must be replaced for safety reasons.

Looks wise, this is an attractive mod and the bevels on the opposite side to the fire button make it very comfortable in use.

The UK version I purchased didn't come with a pass-through board, so I haven't tried this functionality out.

All in all, I'm pleased with this device, it is different from your run of the mill mod and that is what makes it so appealing. If you are willing to forgive a few design flaws, the MF is a great dual use mod for the price.
