Given this thread is somewhat loosely based upon our Woodvils, I have a question: what can I expect from a wooden drip tip? Is there anything particular I have to be concerned about regarding care?
I've wondered about this too. Are they coated with something to prevent condensation/flavors from absorbing into the wood.

I have made many drip tips, so can give you MY opinion of using wood for a drip tip.
Wood is a beautiful medium. It looks good and you can get just about anything you want in it. However, in this application, it is the worst of all mediums. It WILL get wet and disintegrate over time. This applies to both natural and stabilized wood. There is no possible way to prevent this. No wood is happy with being in a wet environment constantly. (You cannot get a wetter environment than something that is in your mouth constantly.) It is fragile as well, meaning if you drop your mod, you can probably kiss your drip tip goodby. I have used many different types of sealers and finishes. They all work good, and 90% of wood finishes are food safe after curing.

In short, if you use several drip tips, and rotate them (at least) daily, you should be quite happy with your results. Regular care would see you cleaning and wiping the tip out frequently, and allowing it to dry out completely after each use. If you want to put a tip on and just perform weekly maintenance on it, do not expect that it will last long.

I tried a couple el cheapo wooden drip tips from Fasttech. They don't look anything like the pictures, basically puny ugly little things.
The price on some to those custom made wooden drip tips has scared me off...
So I just look for a plastic color that matches the color of the mod and say 'close enough'.
Those who do like wooden drip tips speak fondly of Molehill Mountain, although I think those are special order.

Add that wood DT's should have a SS or other protective core securely glued in with food safe glue. Slobber and joose will darken it, make it rot... a textbook haven for bacterial and viral contamination and releasing the natural and unnatural toxins in the wood... all that can be a health issue. I made mouth calls for over 50 years out of most species of wood, developed my own finishes that took 3 weeks to apply and did seal them safe against slobber and most damage inside and out. All woods have natural toxins, plus from sawyer to retailer more are added in preservatives. Some of them can be deadly to those susceptible to them.

These are an alternative to the wood drip tips. I have bought a few and they last well. A plastic, maybe delrin with a wood grain and color. https://highdesertvapes.com/products/510-Wood-Grain-Finish-%28Pawn%29-Drip-Tip.html

I have had some cheaper wood tips. They turned black inside, and cracked. Not worth the money. I have a couple more expensive wood tips. They swell and really are tough to remove if you leave them on for a long time. I usually go with glass tips that match the wood.

This is my prized wood segmented Mountain molehill drip tip.

Stainless steel core in daily use, there is no softening of the wood or rotting, I buy Reos because there the best, Rob is a artist making those gorgeous Wodvil's so I treat them that way.

Oh gosh I'm probably coming across as a real ..., I have never bin good at explaining things but I just can't imagine a wooden drip tip from FT.

Not all MhM tips are special order..Not all are wood either...Some are acrylic. All are sealed with CA and have SS inserts...I've not had a minutes problem with any of mine besides one broken V1 that didn't have the SS inserts

Lots of pretty drip tips...but it seems that no one makes tiny ones

I prefer the shorty drip tips and there just isn't a lot out there

Classy, I am a huge MHM fan and have dozens of their wonderful tips including some woods. That being said, I have found some nice shorty and wide bores from Drip Tip Designz [emoji6]

And MHM has started making munchkins that are under an inch as splat has shown.
