Everything has conventions to show the latest and greatest whatever. Home shows, car shows, comic cons, you name it there is a convention hall being rented out to show the newest stuff off..

So the kids want to have cloud contests.. they are adults..

and vaping ISN'T smoking... there IS the latest and greatest to show.. and what's better than a vape convention to do it in?

Sorry, just don't see this as something to get our panties in a twist over..

Are f-ing kidding me? I loved smoking cigarettes, but I don't recall anyone attending a cigarette convention. Cloud contests, EDM, neck tattoos, "Vanilla Ice" headgear...

I have attended a few over the years. Super fun.
I don't have a neck tattoo but I do have hemorrhoids.

do a web search for Cigar and Pipe Conventions... they are out there :)

If you only knew.
;)
CHAMPS and AGE were the biggest. 3 day long conventions, back to back in Vegas.
Industry only, vendors and shop owners, no public.
Twice a year. A week long party with some business done in between drinks.
Vegas baby!!!!!

I heard that vape tricks will be an official event in the upcoming summer olympics. These folks ARE athletes after all.

I went to a cigar expo 10-15 years ago and it was awesome. last time I ralphed from drinking too much booze. Apparently I had a great time. ;)

Yeah... Maybe they can secure sponsorship, and go pro douche!
Imagine the conversation with the parents?

"Mom. Dad. I'm quitting College to focus on competitive vaping and growing my neck hair. It's my passion and I'm really good at it."

Oh boy.

And what's up with the apparel? They look like a bunch of "Beasty Boys" wanna-be douche-nozzles from 1986.

Considering in the US alone, e-cigarette markets were a 3.5 billion dollar industry in 2016, worldwide it's expected to reach 50 billion by 2025. So yes, there are going to be expo's all over the place for e-cigarette manufacturers to display their wares.

Are you kidding me? I smoking cigarettes for 30 years, but I don't recall anyone attending a cigarette convention.
Smoking was a habit. Vaping, for many, can become more of a hobby. People who engage in hobbies often seek out other like-minded individuals. For example, you're a member on this vaping-oriented message board for, what like 7 and a half years it says. How many "cigarettes.com" websites did you join, back when you were a smoker? That doesn't seem to cause you any grief, so why is it such a leap to think they/we/you might also want to congregate in person, and not just in the virtual world?

yup, been to the one we had here, and it was a fun experience, it's about people selling hardware, people wanting to show their liquid brands, both for the local stores to carry or get people to try them out, etc.

The trick contest wasn't even a big thing, and very few of the "hipsters' clouds chasing type, it was normal people for the most part that were there because of their interest in vaping.

They were handing out free starter kits in trade for a pack of cigarettes to motivate smokers that were there to learn and jump on board.

As I build, try to teach others, and DIY, I was able to get a few things, meet people that I deal with online and such.

To believe that such conventions are a joke is extremely counter-productive to getting people onboard.

Of course there's going to be a part of the "population" of vapers that will be part of the neckbearded tattoo cloud chasing hipsters, but then, is that different from some members on here that act negatively and provide poor information, and if we single those people out, does that make vaping bad? Nah, we need to concentrate on helping each other out and supporting newbies instead.

If that means that we have conventions that helps people vape instead of smoking, help them learn to get proper hardware and get contacts for assistance in their journey into vaping, then it's all good.
