First let me say I Love vaping!!! Got my kits in last week (waiting on one more) and haven't smoked an analog but once on second day.

I am a little concerned about juice though - I want to call up vendors and ask things like "Do you use USP grade PG?" or (after reading the somewhat scary thread about the BE nic) - "Where do you get your nic?!!"

I just can't help but feel like I'm taking a leap of faith when I open these little bottles......Right now I've only ordered from Liberty Flights and Tasty Vapor and Crystal Clear vaping - but do we know where those folks *get* their nic?

Makes me think I need to DIY and test my own nic, etc., just to feel like I have a little more control over my destiny....

If you google any PG vendor their site will show that ANY USA made PG is 100% , even the farm grade you buy at the local farm and fleet. Might not say USP on it but look at the ingredients. 100% PG, saves you about $200 lol, a gallon of it is like $24 at the farm store
I thought, after reading this sticky: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/52669-pg-vg-labeling-purity-please-read.html that I should only buy it if it is labeled "USP". No? Yes?

I smoked cigarettes before I started vaping so I'm not going to get too carried away. Did I give a thought to the tons of chemicals or the fact that rats might have peed on the tobacco? Or if I was out of cigs, I'd look behind the sofa cushion or in coat pockets for a cig? Nope, I just paid about $8.00 a pack for the privilege.

It's good to worry to some extent about what we put in our body, but I'm not going to get all nutty worrying about it.

TRUE........even if you are adding one chemical that MIGHT be bad for you well your still minus the 3,988 bad chemicals in cigarettes

Most vendors seem more than willing to provide all of that information, some have been offering it even before getting request because of the BE scare. I personally asked 2 vendors where they got their nic (well, if it was BE), got very fast, friendly & clear responses. Any vendor that responds otherwise I just wouldn't go back to. You shouldn't feel bad about asking them, and they shouldn't be upset with you asking, if they are, I say leave them and go elsewhere :)

I share the same concerns. It sounds logical that eliquid that contains a handful of ingredients is safer than the 4000 chemicals and carcinogens in cigs. However we have no idea what the long term effects are of vaping fragrances, flavoring, coloring, pg and vg and lord knows where or by whom are the liquids made. And it's concerning that some vapers have developed skin rashes, headaches, body aches...and slurred speech? Owell, I guess we will see what happens.

Just for what it's worth... I'm almost 3 years in now and I CHAIN vape. I smoked heavily for decades. I felt horrible, lotta wheezing and weariness. I've not only had zero ill effects from vaping (same with my daughter, her husband, and others I've converted and stayed in touch with) - but virtually ALL of the smoking symptoms have long since disappeared. Lungs are great, energy is good, I can sing without croaking and bound up stairs, the works.
I was nervous, too.
I do buy my juice from a very transparent, American vendor (I really like Kick Bass Vapor, and they'll tell you their ingredients, they're really impeccable). There are others out there who can be trusted.
