Hello again everyone and welcome back for todays review of the Manik Pod mod from Wotofo. The Manik Pod mod is a first for Wotofo entering the very busy and oversaturated market of Pod Mods of today and your probably wondering is it just another Pod mod or is there something different with the Manik, and to answer your question yes there is something different and I think it's a very big plus for the Wotofo Manik. I'll cover what the special feature the Manik has a bit later in the review but first lets get to know the Manik Pod Mod a little bit.

    FIRST IMPRESSION

My first thought was oh no Wotofo packaging again, as many of you know Wotofo is notorious for packaging their products so tightly that you almost have to destroy the box just to open the package and the Manik packaging was no different. A transparent plastic is used as the box cover with the device sitting in a form fitted foam cutout with your user manual, charge cord, pod install card and the conical next mesh coil underneath, the clapton mesh coil is pre-installed in the pod.

Looking the device over I noticed there was no airflow adjustment of the dual airflow slots on either side of the pod. Going straight to the drip tip I found out that it's proprietary so no custom drip tips can be used but the one that's used is fine. Looking over the pod you find a textured square button looking piece that is the attachment point of the pod. There are no magnets used instead the pod clicks into place via the button I just mentioned and very secure, this pod isn't coming off accidentally. Coils are push and pull and install easily.

Above the leather wrapped spine is where the top fill port is located on the pod using a flush fitted rubber plug that would be difficult to open but the pod has a little cut out making it easier to open and fill. Using a 100ml bottle you will not be able to stick your bottle tip in very far because of the proprietary drip tip but enough to get the job done without causing a mess.

The pod itself is not a clear pod, there is some tinting used but you can still view your juice without much trouble in good lighting but at night it's a bit difficult to do so. In this photo one of the airflow slots is shown along with the pod release button.

    20201115_143506.jpg

The single 18650 battery is installed by opening the battery cover located at the bottom of the device with a arrow showing the direction the user should push. The battery cover clicks very securely into place and I've never had it open unintentionally in the time I've used it.

    20201115_132609.jpg

Battery polarity is clearly marked on the device with a positive red X inside.

    20201119_051926.jpg

The battery cover has your negative - marking, wish it was labeled in white though. Above the minus symbol is a metal tab which pushes the battery in for a secure fit with no battery rattle.

    20201121_071139.jpg

The Manik is a wattage only device leaving button combinations the only real type of menu on the device, there are only a few making it very easy to remember.

ON/OFF IS 5 QUICK PRESSES OF THE POWER BUTTON

RAISING WATTAGE BY PRESSING THE + BUTTON

LOWERING WATTAGE BY PRESSING THE - BUTTON

LOCKING WATTAGE BY SIMULTANEUSLY PRESSING AND HOLDING THE + AND - BUTTONS

CHANGING THE COLOR DISPLAY BY PRESSING THE POWER AND + BUTTONS SIMULTANEUSLY ( THERE ARE 6 COLOR CHOICES )

CLEARING THE PUFF COUNTER BY PRESSING THE POWER AND - BUTTON SIMULTANEUSLY

The color display screen although vibrant with color is a bit too tinted and you will notice it when out in bright sunlight, indoors you will have no problem. The Manik is a straight forward mod with all the controls on the face of the device. Starting from the top and working your way down you have the power/fire button, display screen, up and down buttons and below them the USB port that interesting enough forms a face.

THOUGHTS ON THE MANIK AFTER USING

First of all I have to give Wotofo a sincere congratulations on their first device into the Pod Mod field. My time of using the device has been all good with only a couple things that need fixing , one is a airflow selector and the other is less tinting on the pod as well as the display screen. Another thing that would be nice is the ability to use your own drip tip but I have zero complaints with the proprietary DP. I was not happy seeing no adjustable airflow but the Manik is not a air factory either and was surprised with the airflow. The airflow is smooth with no turbulence even after using a old trick of applying 2 thin pieces of clear scotch tape covering 1/4 on the 2 airflow slots letting me tailor the airflow to my sweet spot, and it worked great.

The pod is installed with a very positive click and is held in place with no wiggle and no worry of it coming off unless I take it off. I've had no leaks of any kind in the 10 days of very heavy use. The buttons are very nice and are clicky. There is absolutely no ramp up time with the device firing instantly.

Hand fit is another plus for the Manik either finger or thumb firing and having a leather wrapped spine not only looks great but also feels great. The color I have for this review is the red one and every time I see it, it reminds me of a football with its texture and stitching.

    20201121_064518.jpg

The biggest feature of the Manik is the ability to use Voopoo PNP or Vaporesso GTX coils in it also. Out of the 2 coils supplied with the Manik my favorite is the clapton mesh which is still going strong and still producing great flavor even below the recommended wattage starting point of 45w. I started off at 40w to break in the coil but the flavor was great so I saw no need to increase wattage until today where it sits at 43w and this is after 10 days of heavy use.

So in closing I have to say I have enjoyed using the Manik and will continue to use it possibly getting the blue color version because it's my favorite color. To have a device that performs great and has fantastic flavor coils with the ability to use other fantastic flavor coils from 2 different manufacturers is a very big bonus and there is a optional RBA Pod that can be purchased separately.

The Manic Pod Mod was not provided to me for review but rather I won it in a contest held here at ECF from HealthCabin. I would like to thank Sue and HealthCabin for running the contest that I was lucky enough to win. I also hope this review helped anyone looking to purchase the Manik. Pick one up folks it's a winner.

    THANK YOU
