Good Morning everyone. 611 signatures needed to reach 15,000  Slow but sure :D

Guys, I am thinking that the mods have been kinda lenient with us since they usually don't allow 2 threads doing/saying the same thing. We may want to either allow one of the threads to go dormant or ask a mod to lock one.

I want to take a moment to thank all the mods for allowing this up to this point. Thank you

I was thinking the same. One really does need to be closed.

I will let the two starters of the threads decide which should remain open. No rush :)

There are technically three including this one.

Do we need to close two or can we leave mine open in media and general news and caro123's open in general vaping?

And lock this one?

Sometimes it is Nice to have 2 Threads on a Topic like this running Concurrently.

One thread can give Updates to Numbers and can have Success Stories.

The Other Thread can have the Nut's n' Bolts on How to Maintain/Spread awareness.

Here is an Interesting Article about one Method to generate Involvement.

Not sure I Endorse it. In Fact, I kinda have some Reservations about it. But I'll just throw it out there.

Vaping giveaways raise eyebrows at state Capitol | Politics | The News Tribune
The risk of getting into legal troubles is too high...

The PDC is now contacting the Pink Lung Brigade and another group, the Washington Vape Association, and asking them to tally up the value of the discounts and giveaways contributed by their members. If the value of the in-kind contributions exceeds $700 in a month or $1,400 in three months, the agency will ask each group’s lobbyist to report the activity as grassroots lobbying, Anderson said.

At least one lawmaker thinks the groups’ failure to report the activity violated state law.

I do like what they named it ... "Kill Bill" lol

309 needed for 15K!

So, apparently I got the timeline a little wrong, there's one more step before the regs make it to congress, they have to go through the whitehouse OMB. This process has dragged on for so long... I still think it's a good idea to get the word out now though.

I am so ill informed about congress and presidents and senators. we have a different political structure if something goes to congress does that mean everyone in the house ( or equivalent) get to vote yes or no and is this vote along party lines or is it a free vote and if only your president believes something can he over ride everyone and vote for something

In general, for laws, something is proposed in one of the branches of Congress, either the Senate or the House of Representatives. It gets voted on/amended until it either passes with enough votes or gets defeated. If it passes it moves to the other branch where they also vote/amend it. If it passes both branches of Congress, it goes to the President who can either sign it into law, or veto it.

This is a bit different since it's a federal agency regulation change and I believe the order of events is:
1. FDA proposes regulations
2. Public comment period
3. FDA finalizes regulations
4. Office of Management and Budget approval
5. Presented to congress who can approve, amend, deny, or do nothing, if they do nothing it becomes final after a certain period of time
6. Goes to the President

I think I have that right. We're currently in stage 3.

Here is some Info on the OMB.

6. How long can OIRA take to review a draft regulation?

Answer: The period for OIRA review is limited by the Executive Order to 90 days. There is no minimum period for review. Under the Executive Order, the review period may be extended by the head of the rulemaking agency, and the OMB Director may extend the review period on a one-time basis for no more than 30 days. The average review time for the 712 rules submitted to OMB during 2003 was 53 days.
