Hey everyone! I've gone through a LOT since the last time I logged in here; and the site has changed a LOT, too!

I completely quit analogs (cigs) in 2011 or so, and vaped exclusively for about 8 yrs with 100% positive results. But in 2019/20 or so, I got covid (I think... testing for it wasn't up and running here), but I couldn't vape. It felt like I would suddenly have the lung capacity of a mouse... But only when vaping... the same fluid, same device, no other actual "covid symptoms" and the docs said I was "fine," and just shooed me away and said stop vaping.
Apparently smoking didn't cause the same issues. Failure on several fronts... so I went back to smoking. Sigh...
I detest sub-ohm (not the people using them, but the money-grab tactics from the manufacturers), and alternately, my first experience with salt-nic was unfortunately negative.
I've continually tried to go back to vaping, with similar results as before, just not as intense.
But now at the end of 2023, I finally found that the BAR style disposables are giving me the least issues. Yes, I realize it's mostly salt-nic, and that they are TERRIBLE for the environment, but I'm fairly handy and already figured out how to fairly easily refill the SM0K AL9OOO. It's basically just a giant cartomizer in a hard to open case.
I will post my results soon

In the meantime: be strong, say no to smoking, and vape on!

The amount of E-waste from disposables is out of this world. I grabbed a simple device, the Aspire Plexus Stik. It's refillable, rechargeable and has auto draw. I used to have all kinds of mods, built my own coils and made my own juice etc. I cant be bothered with that anymore due to absolutely insane price increase here in Denmark. 10ml of 18mg nicotine base now costs over 6 bucks. It used to cost only $1.70. Sigh.

Waste (for the environment AND my wallet) is the reason I cracked open my first BAR. Gentle use of a hacksaw and your fav fluid, and boom, fresh disposable for cheap (until the coil goes off).

You hate sub ohm because it's a money grab but you use disposables. Ok.
You kinda missed the point, but ok.

I use disposables because it's the only thing that works for me until I can get around to sampling EVERY other of the 5k+ products available. Stuffs expensive. Especially when it doesn't agree with you and you're left with a useless lump of burnt cash.
I've now owned exactly TWO disposables. One I broke open when it ran out, the other is still fairly new. And I plan to get as much use out of them as possible. And when they're done, I'll remove the batts and recycle them separately at the local e-waste site in town. A bit of a pain for the average person, but I figure since I'll have them apart anyway, it's little trouble to separate the trash from the caustic recyclables..

And as for sub-ohm, why would I want to use 3-6x the fluid (and packaging) to get the same amount of nic? While paying the same price for fluid whether it's 3mg or 18mg? Btw, you can't even find regular nic fluid over 12mg in the shops here unless you go salt-nic. Four or five vape shops in town and all the same. Or I could buy online - but I'd rather support local businesses despite being more expensive and whatnot. Unfortunately, they all have the same stuff and want to push overpriced sub-ohm fluid and setups, or sell you... dun-dun-dun: disposables and salt-nic... I'll eventually find a good compromise, I just need time.

Things sure have changed. I remember when I started looking to move up from Egos there were a handful of choices. KFL and one other similar tank that I can't remember the name of, Lemos were just hitting the scene. Nautilus and Pro Tanks were popular. They were the big ones. There were others around. But really, looking around ECF there were just a handful of tanks trending. There was a huge Lemo thread with thousands of posts. Lots of threads about the others. I tried Nautilus and Pro Tanks then Lemo and KFL. KFL and Lemo are what I use today.

Now like you say there are a huge number of options and much less info about them. Buy one, not like it. Buy another one. Etc. I can see why someone diving in now would say screw it and pick up a disposable. My grandson restarted vaping recently after a long break, years ago he used Nautilus. He picked up a disposable called Lost Mary. I took a few hits on it and it was a nice vape with great flavor. I might have gone that way if I was starting today.

In defense, disposables do have some unique flavors and the extra kick in the pants from the high nicotine levels isn't necessarily a bad thing. The cost is the prohibiting factor for me. I spend about half my time doing DIY and the rest, I'm vaping my favorite commercial juices. A bottle of juice costs the same as one disposable and lasts much longer.

I started vaping in 2011, dual-used to cut down on cigarettes for years. I also did the rebuildables for years and got tired of it. I ended up on Juul, which did allow me to completely quit cigarettes - I'm in my sixth year cigarette free :) Anyway, I got sick of the expense and just started to switch to refillable pods. Very convenient. Vapes have progressed so much over the years even low cost ones perform better than what we used way back when........

Yeah don't remind me of the CE4 which was my first vape. It was all kinds of terrible.

Ya know, there isn't a wrong way to vape.
It's just what floats your boat, and nothing else matters.

Personally, I'm still old school. (Maybe that's because I'm old (82))
All the stuff I use isn't even made anymore.

The handwriting was on the wall when I switched to vaping (2011). The FDA had just lost a lawsuit, (and that pizzed them off) customs was seizing shipments, and vaping was likely to end.

So I figure that the only way that I could stay off cigs was to learn how to be "self sufficient", and make everything myself in order to vape. (and I wasn't alone)
And along came the CE4:lol:. Funny how that little POS is the foundation of every atomizer in existence today.

Whatever works for you is a win. It sadly didn't work for me. I experienced cracked tanks monthly, more than I can count of dry hits and not a lot of battery life. It's not a completely bad device, but it certainly has it's flaws. I will give credit where credit is due; It started my journey of quitting smoking and getting into vaping :)
