Hey All,

Wow. I just got lost in this forum for about four hours. Amazing stuff here, much much appreciated.

So I'm incredibly interested in getting started with e-cigs/vaping and have been reading trash sites with fake (read: all positive) reviews of every e-cig for about the last week, becoming pretty frustrated with no one actually writing on the internet which one of these things suck, because they're just getting paid from linking anyhow. Until I found ECF!

Okay I'll make this quicker:

I live in New York, have a full time job and am also trying to get a small business going. I am busy running around town and very seldom will be able to just hang out and home and vape, or fill my own cartos or really mess with anything too high-maintenance (for now, for now--if there's anything I've learned today on these forums, it's that there are some real benefits to getting into this to a high-level). SO--I am really sorry to say (and I've read the whole mammoth "BUY AN eGo!!" stickied thread, so I know this might be annoying), but I really am looking for a close-to-analog-sized PV with a PCC (omg acronyms) and pre-filled cartos. I fully intend to look into my options for much better "at-home" vaping later on, but for right now I just need something I can carry around on the go and use at home with however much satisfaction I can get.

SO! After reading a ton, I think I'm probably looking for a KR-808-D1 with a PCC and a nice variety pack of pre-filled cartos. The thing is--it would be AWESOME to be able to get this really fast and at a decent price.

Any suggestions for suppliers or retailers that are close to me? I went into those threads and visited some of the sites but I actually did start getting pretty overwhelmed.

Am I making any huge mistakes in what I've chosen (for now)? Any recommendations on nice pre-filled cartos with a decent throat hit?

Many thanks to anyone who spends time on this site helping others. It is easily the most helpful site I've found yet and it's appreciated.

I think , from what your describing , your stuck on the whole size / pre-filled notion . I just bought a Reo Grand . It's a aluminum , bottom juice feeder , than can use several battery combinations . You put some of your favorite juice in the bottle , add a Carto's (work better than an atty.) IMO and a fresh battery , and your ready to go , for a full day of no hassle vaping . Batteries hold a great charge , no carts or carto's to change out , and as I discovered , it fits into ones of my old cell phone cases . So it's easy to carry , with no chance of misfiring in a pocket , or leaking on your clothes .

I'll have to second that post, ever since i got my Reo grand, i don't carry napkins and a bunch of useless stuff anymore.... just fill the feeder at night and take an extra pair of batteries with me and I'm good to go for a full day of work!! and that thing is sturdy and reliable, forget about the cigarette looks and check out reosmods.com ;)

Hey Bird,
My first kit was a Joye 510, very close to 100 size cig. I bought it for two main reasons, 1. I wanted something close to a real cig size, 2. Couldn't beat the price.
In hindsight now, the cig size batteries do not last very long, which means you recharge them more, which means that they will give out faster. My second kit is in the mail now, and will have 1000 mah batteries which are much fatter than a real cig. But these should last 5x's longer than a real cig size.
Just some words for thought: would rather have preformance than a real cig look alike. Good luck to you!:vapor:

Hiya Birdbrains,

I know there's a few suppliers in NY. VaporsEtc is in Rochester and they have great juice. They have a awesome sampler pack for 5 flavors for $6.95. I think Backwoods Brew and Juicy Vapor are in NY also but I haven't tried their juices.

Good luck with your new hobby:) Using these things is a joy and work like a miracle:)

I agree with JD1. If you want something small, get a 510 because if you move up in size, parts will be compatable. I have a 510 and it's a great PV. But mini's mean smaller batteries which mean more charges, shorter battery life.

Nothing at all wrong with 510's or KR808's as long as your aware of that.

About how much do you smoke and how long have you been smoking? How much do you want to spend?

Cignot has a Joye 510 kit with a PCC for about $65 and prefilled cartos if the cigarette size is important. When my wife moved on to Ego's I took her 510 over and use it at my desk for desert flavors. I think the batteries are 180mah but I don't know the capacity of 808s. Nothing wrong with starting that way in my book. I've always gotten my orders in just a few days from Vicki. I would highly suggest manual batteries though. If you refill or drip later the autos are easily damaged. I'm sure you've read about the bigger stuff and it's good advice but at the end of the day it's your choice. I'm just glad to see you getting started by doing your homework instead of getting taken by some of the stuff out there. Welcome

Thanks for the replies all!

Okay so after about three more hours of reading I have a few more questions...

First--all the talk of flavors and the YouTube videos of filling and cleaning cartomizers has convinced me that I want to do that. Also the selection of pre-filled carts looks meager in comparison to all the juices I could try if I do it myself. infound and bookmarked some threads that had a listing of all sites offering sample packs and all us-made juice suppliers. Going to check those out!

Looking at lots of info on 510s and 808s has led me to believe that I want the 808. I was just reading lots of good things about the V4L WOW cartomizers and the smokeless image volt. I was leaning towards the volt cause there were lots of glowing reviews on the company and the pcc you can get looks really nice.

But maybe I want the 510! Truthfully I'm kind of saying words right now I have no idea about. It just seems like taking care of the atomizer and buying an extra piece when they die or lubricating them or something seems like one more thing to do.

Lastly. In was getting into this with a friend and he (being impatient) ordered and just received a South Beach Smoke deluxe tonight. 2 of his 5 cartomizers were DOA so I only got to try cherry, menthol and vanilla. I smoke about 15 cigs a day and I think I inhale REALLY deeply. The south beach killed my throat and neither of us could get very much vapor (nowhere near as much as in YouTube videos I've seen for the volt or a 510). So two questions: do we just suck at vaping currently? And should I learn not to inhale so deeply? I smoke parliaments and bring it pretty much all into my lungs. When I inhaled the south beach (all flavors) it killed my throat and nothing came out when I exhaled. I was taking some long, slow pulls and puffing it up quite a bit in advance to get the vapor going. Is the south beach just massively inferior?

I am definitely going to look for a larger home unit when I figure this first part out. And apparently get awesome 2 ohm boge cartos or something. Haven't quite understood about the ohms yet.

Wow. Apologies for this novel. Anyone that makes it to here is a true hero.

Yes.

The volt has been getting great reviews. Slide the transport out to about 5:15 and start from there to see it in action. You'll also get to see a good slow drag. Unfortunately, the guy doesn't inhale. Lots of reviewers do that so you can see the vapor being produced. You've got to watch for that or you'll think the unit is performing better than it is. I've changed over to using my pv more like a pipe. I take a sloooow drag, sometimes letting up on the button before completion to prevent the vapor from being too hot. (The coil will still produce vapor even after getting off the button---n/a for automatic lol). Then open my lips a little and inhale.

My question then is: can you inhale fully and get vapor on the exhale? Or is that really in the realm of more powerful units (if at all)?

I have not been vaping for more then a week but I take big fat puffs and inhale deeply and still get clouds of vapor out off of my PV. I am using 2.0 LR cartomizers

My acronym lookup tells me you're talking about 2 ohm low resistance cartomizers? That requires something more powerful than a small unit right? Mind sharing what pv you're using?

Sure, you'll get that with any of the models. Some definitely have an easier draw on some models but a good vape with the KR808, 510 or ego.

Juice with more VG, more vapor. PG give you more throat hit. Most people prefer a mix of 70pg/30vg for performance in cartos and good TH and vapor.

Look of the cig wasn't an issue for me (not that there's anything wrong with that). I wanted ease of use (not a lot of filling, changing batteries) and a decent enough vape that would get me off cigs. I've tried a few KR808's, 510 and ego and my preference is the Ego. Doesn't mean it's better, just the best one for me.

I am using an ego battery, and I believe you are right with the needing a more powerful unit ( battery size 650 mah+) for the LR cartomizers

Yes, with mini's you can use standard resistance cartomizers. With ego (bigger battery models) you can use standard resistance cartos, LR cartos, dual coil cartos. With an ego type you can also drip (drip juice directly on the atomizer), use cartos or cart & atty. With the two piece unit KR808, you use cartos. I think there's something available so you can drip with them though. With the 510 you can drip, use standard cartos, or cart/atty.

You get about an hour (give or take) for moderate to heavy vaping per 100 mah. So for a 280 mah battery about 3 hours of constant vaping. An ego is a 750 mah so you get about 8 hours.

Last question of the night for me. Promise. So if I get an ego I would also benefit from a smaller Joye 510 cause the cartos work together and an 808 carto would not work on an ego right?

Also I'm not even going to ask about these drip tip things cause I'm positive there is a thread on them and I'll find it and be a forum winner.

You could use the KR808 cartos on the ego. They sell little adapters.

You might really like the Volt. I have never tried it but it might work well for you. I've also never tried their prefilled cartos, but others like them. They do have a good warranty. They had a coupon code heatwave and you get 23% off. I'm not sure it's still valid but give it a shot. I'd order the longer batteries and the manual batteries. They last longer and manuals have less chance of killing the battery if you fill cartos with your own juice.

Give it a try. If you don't like the juice, they sell blank cartomizers and they're easy to fill and you'll save money. You can also sample lots of juices that way.
