Ok so I'm looking to pick up an all mechanical MOD (to use for dripping at the desk when my Provari needs a break) and I want to get an rba.

I am so lost yet I feel like I have a grip, but dont know what I'm holding on to...

I have a few questions and if anyone could help answer them I'd really appreciate it.

1. Which rba would be best to start with? I was looking at a Phoenix style rba, found them for around $10 wondering if that would be a good start?

2. What gauge kanthal and what size silica wick would be suitable? I'm looking to run lower(ish) ohms since it will mostly be used on a mechanical MOD.

3. what do i need to be safe/test to make sure the atty isn't going to short? I'm just confused as to what I need to do before trying it out. Or if I have an all mechanical MOD, would that be safe to try it on first and then continue to use?

I think that's all the questions I have (for now). thanks in advance.

I prefer the Phoenix over the Genesis when it comes to flavor (I use SS Mesh). Give the most flavor I have ever tasted. the bad part is the constant dripping.

I dont have an iGo-L, but I was about to buy an Aga-drip (which to me looks like 100% the same thing)

But those look like designed for silica, which I have stopped using.

the aga drip is $15 buck @ mtnvapor, maybe grab one of each?

You may want to check the A7, it's basically a bigger phoenix and has gotten good reviews. that's my next purchase along the AGa-drip.

silica, you'll be fine with 2.5 mm.

kanthal, 32 is a safe bet. 30 is algo good but you need a few more wraps (dont go make .5 ohms attys, that's too much strain on a battery, regardless of brand / kind. you may argue that a this or that brand is safe and most likely it will be fine, but I'm 100% sure that battery wont last nearby as long as when you use .9 to 1.2 ohms attys. With 28 gauge you will start getting into 8 to 10+ wraps just to get to 1 ohm on 2.5 mm silica.

You mentioned you are getting a mechanical, DO NOT make and test your attys on a mech mod. You may and most likely will have a short sometime. I have had these many many times and have been at it for a decent couple of months.

i always test and wrap on a provari (a zmax, vmax, vamo, etc is also fine, just any device that has short-circuit protection) and then move to my unprotected devices.
