Thank you all for the warm welcomes! :toast:

I didn't mention the REOmizer would be my first rba, or that I also got 3' each of 2.5mm silica wick, and 28, 30, and 32 AWG Kanthal A1 from REO as well (nice pricing for "trial" sizes--will use Temco once I figure out what I like).

This, and some organic cotton balls, will let me experiment with a variety of non-standard coil configurations. :D

I'm so excited... and i just can't hide it!

Dude, we are ALL excited with you :)

Well, my silver veined REO Grand and all the goodies arrived. I went straight to the RB2 and 28 AWG Kanthal and did a 7/6 wrap coil on a 1/16" drill bit. Coil wouldn't squeeze together tight, even when heated with a cigarette lighter while being compressed with hemostats. Oh well, couldn't wait--used it anyway. Multimeter said 1.0Ω dry, Slid a thin bit of q-tip cotton in it, filled the tank with DIY 50/50, installed the battery, and away we went. Amazing response! Zero to clouds in a nano second. Checked it on the eVic while wet and it said 0.9Ω and reported "atomizer short" rather than fired. Maybe I'll stop vaping it long enough to get a picture in a bit.

I can't adequately express in words my gratitude to the REOville community for all your help getting here--it's a new, higher plane in my vaping experience. Thank you all so much!

Glad you're enjoying it. Were you coils all touching while still on the drill bit? Mine stay together from the get go with 28ga. I wrap mine on the bit then take it off and use a spring tweezer to hold them and then torch the coil and legs.

I think I need more heat. On or off the drill bit, it squeezes together, but springs back apart when released.

Some more observations... the silver vein is almost black... about 80% density. I LOVE it! Not sure pictures would do it justice. The veining on the door is a bit coarser than that on the body... nice contrast. I think the powdercoat on the rabbets along the door sides snug it up... I have no door rattle and don't feel a need to put tape on the back. It takes more effort than I thought it would to move the door... not so worried about losing it, especially with my little finger wrapped under the bottom. I wouldn't call the draw of the RB2 tight... more like not loose. I wouldn't want the hole much, if any, larger. I've learned the hard way, "when in doubt, squank first!" I've squanked a lot and have had zero juice come out of the well when I tip it... Nice! I am seriously impressed with the craftsmanship... wonderful design and flawless construction. Thanks, Rob!

In the few days I've had my beauty I find it better to squonk more often then not, not because it is always needed, but just because it insures I'll be getting a good drag. Plus I have found it nearly impossible to flood the rm2 and have seen zero leaking, so why not lol.

Welcome aboard! I, too, have a Silver Vein -- love it. As for squonking...you will get to the point where you instinctively know when to do it. Enjoy. :)

This has become my philosophy. :)

Another observation: When it comes to cotton, less is more. (not too dense, no longer than necessary) Determined after trying several wick configurations.
