Yet Another Box mod!

I was tired of worrying about keeping my 14500/14650 VV mods charged up so I built this - a dual 18650 VV wood mod using the OKR-6. On-board charging and juice feeder. Made from some maple with a sliding door. I have some exotic hardwood on the way for the next iteration so I'm probably going to give this guy to a friend but it was fun working with wood again.

Not as big as I was expecting and it lasts 2 days on a set of Trustfire 2400mah 18650s. Very little sag at the batteries compared to smaller battery mods, even with 14500 IMR's.

Very nice, wish I could do electronix they scare me LOL

As long as you can solder, it's a snap. The 'Easy OKR' post in this forum lays everything out with actual pictures of the components, so it was super simple.

haha they appreciate it. I usually accept offers to pay for the components for mods, in this case around $20, but won't take money for labor - good friends and it was a relaxing way to spend a few nights getting re-acquainted with the router :)

Just realized I didn't use the right letters for that acronym

Thanks, I'm really happy with the way this came out.

The cells have PCBs to prevent overcharging, just have to make sure the cells are at the same voltage before you wire them together. I wouldn't do this will unprotected LiCO.

Soldering was easy too, just had to score the tabs to expose some fresh metal, add flux and hit it with a really warmed up iron for 2 seconds. The key is to not have a low wattage iron that has to sit on the tabs for a while. The cell itself was cool, way cooler than sitting in some Chinese wall charger.

I had 2 IMRs in this same configuration for 4 months. When I took apart the pack they were both at 3.99v on the dot, recharged in series a few times a day that whole time, so I'm not worried.

The next box I make will have removable batteries though, just so I don't have to carry around the goofy 8.4v charger, it's kind of unwieldy.
