I just got my Riva from Eastmall! (I ordered it on Thursday evening) Now to charge and wait some more  I guess I will do some more reading while I wait.

Congratulations!

Mind if I ask you something out of pure curiosity?

How is the packaging marked and does it give a manufacturers name or address anywhere?

The box makes no mention of the manufacturer or even the brand. The directions state RiVa everywhere with no mention of eGo. On the other hand, my eGo box came labeled as eGo and the directions reference eGo throughout. Neither makes a mention of the manufacturer.

And congratulations CC. You're going to love it. The Riva holds a charge a nice long time and looks good doing it!

No manufacturer name or address that you could see the way it was packaged. It was a small box so the International Express Mail Waybill was folded in half and put in a plastic pouch on the outside of the box. The way the paper was folded, only my name and address were visible other than the tracking number and a bunch of Chinese characters. When I took that paper out of the pouch and turned it over, the date, city, and country of sender is listed (along with a BUNCH more Chinese characters). On the bottom of the backside is listed description of contents "electronic accessories".

There are also two EMS China Post Group labels with barcodes and a Global Express Mail label with date and tracking number, but again, no manufacturer name or address.

Hope this answers your question!

Actually, yes, yes it does. Thank you both! The actions of the Chinese manufacturing sector are fascinating to me.

Here's why.

I've been working with electronics for 20 years now and have had a front row seat as OUR manufacturing moved first to Mexico and then to China. I have seen the same identical devices made in all three locations. Likewise, the quality of Chinese goods has advanced rapidly... VERY rapidly over time. Yet their legal system, infrastructure, etc. has lagged. So when I see a flood of "stuff" from over there, like e-cigs for example, it makes me curious as to what's next or what riddle, wrapped in a conundrum, cloaked in an enigma may be behind it. It often ends up being State Factory #9, Hangshou Province, or some other oddity run by the Gov there. It's just odd. More than once I have been confronted by well made pieces of equipment which have been made completely unservicable by an absolute lack of support over here and it may be completely, utterly impossible to find a trace of where the thing was made! it's like the factory and organization that ran it never existed on the face of the earth. And that has left me shocked on more than one occasion. The same thing seems to be at work in regards to e-cigs. Lots of nearly identical "stuff" without clear indication of origin.

So, for me, it is a version of professional curiosity.

The Riva has it's name on the battery. At least mine does. It's hard to see but it's there if you look close.

Mine has the same mark.

I did some research and I think this is where EM gets their supplies from:

Unicig International Co., Ltd. - Electronic Cigarette, E-Liquid, Riva

Notice how their descriptions match East Mall's descriptions. The Lr atties have the same markings as well.

The reason I found out was bc I was interested in buying a bunch of Riva kits and reselling them on the forums.

Interesting indeed. I DO notice that Unicig calls their an "UN Riva", yet they mark their batteries "Riva".

My suspicion is, that were we to gain full access to the facts, we would find that many, if not all versions of the eGo design are actually being made by a handful of facilities run by the Chicom Gov FOR multiple distributors. There's some industrial equipment that comes out of China under those circumstances. It would not surprise me in the least.

I actually managed to turn up a distributor by the name of Truman Technology. They also claim to be a manufacturer of the 510.

From their listing:

Trueman Technology Ltd is a leading electronic manufactory in electronic cigarette and electronic cigar. With the fast development, we grow very fast and now we have owned two factories for our e-cigarette production .

Add the terms Chinese and Manufacturing and the result is almost always strange.
