You know what Alisa, now that you mention it, I feel the same way! Also, if someone in the movie I'm watching or a character in a book I'm reading is smoking, it's a knee-jerk reaction that I'm going to want one too!

I've always had that re: seeing someone else smoke in the movies.

It's a bit easier for me on that one, because I usually have my PV with me at all times, and just vape away. That for me isn't a real craving--it's just like you said, a knee-jerk reaction, like yawning being catching.

Edit: Goodnight FQ!

That makes sense to me. Thinking about not smoking is like thinking about smoking. if someone says to me don't think about the Brooklyn bridge. I'm all over the thought

Yup.

Even though everyone's talking about vaping and how they quit cigs, it makes me want to smoke. Brains are weird, aren't they?

In your life BQ [before quitting] did you sit at the computer and smoke? I only smoke outside, so I can sit at the computer all night with no issues unless I see or hear about someone smoking. But, if I step outside for any reason, it's on. It's so hard to break habits, and my habit is sitting on the front porch, pooches scattered about, perhaps a cat lying across my feet and being a tripping hazard and general nuisance, and puffing away on a stogie. Oh, and the second worst place for me is in the car!

I guess I could lay in a months supply of groceries, take a month off work, and just be a hermit! Somehow I think all that alone time with my family would just drive me to drink instead!

The only time I ever smoked inside was in the mornings before work, and I'd be right next to the sliding glass door with it open, so that all the smoke would go outside. Other than that, NO smoking in my house.

Strangely enough, the regular habits like that were easy for me to break because I did manage to stay smoke free completely my first few weeks. I just vaped when I would have smoked, so I didn't struggle with that too much.

One of my problems is that I have a desk for my laptop set up on the patio with a nice comfortable chair and have spent countless hours there working and smoking. Now, that comfortable spot on the patio is hardwired in my brain to smoking. Sitting there makes me want to light up. The longer I sit there, the more I smoke. That is going to be my toughest association to break!

I did go to bed but I could not fall asleep, so I am back for a few more minutes. Let's see, toughest association to break:

10 am and 3 pm smoke breaks at work. At the gazebo, otherwise known as the .... Hut, gossip central, and puffing on the old Vamo just doesn't cut it. I do have prescribed break times and even the vapers go hang out there. Yes, we have 2 or 3 other vapers! LOL

When I'm driving with the top down I always end up with ashes in my eye, so I'm really trying to stop smoking while driving. And after I finally conquer those demons I can work on the 1st thing in the morning cig and the late night can't sleep insomniac cig.

I don't blame you for getting upset at that thread, FQ. There was a fair amount of douchebaggery going on there. (my new favorite word lol) I see that bettysue was invited to this thread several times but hasn't made it yet. Hopefully soon.

I used to smoke non stop when on my computer, but now I keep my PV in the glass I normally kept my rollies in and I just reach for it there. My worst place is at work. I always bring my PV with me, but rarely use it. That's gonna be a hard 8 hours 5 days a week.

Thaya I can understand your frustration at work, because you can smoke whenever you feel like it! You have to fight the urge and habit all.day.long! I only have two 15 minute time periods to argue with myself! Hey, slow progress is still progress, you are taking your PV to work. I'm smoking for half my break and vaping for the other half! We might just get there one day.

Yes, there definitely was a bad taste in my mouth over some comments on that thread. We as vapers have enough people trying to knock us down, do we need fellow vapers doing it too?

Thanks, have a great night! I feel the eyelids drooping, better get horizontal before I wake up with keyboard imprint!

Seriously, if you can, find a good naturopath...my mom's has absolutely done wonders for her. It takes a bit longer to get to the root cause, but it's better than what happens with an MD who I think are more like legal drug pushers now more than healers. I know what you mean about the medical profession...I don't really trust doctors as far as I can throw them.

I've used naturopath's before. It can be a bear to find a good one and there's the issue that none of them are covered by any insurance. Unfortunatley (sorta) I've got a fair amount of nutritional training from college. I was also involved in body building back then and nobody knows practical nutrition like body builders. When I went to locate a decent multi-vitamin, I just hung out for awhile in a couple of message boards. Viola! Found a great one that's pharmecutical quality and reasonably priced. There's also lef.org that puts out a nutritional bible using a blend of medical studies and natropathic approaches (ignore the commercial side). They are also key lobbiest's against turning over the suppliment market to pharmecetical companies. I think I've followed lef.org since the mid 80's. I don't know it all, but financially, a naturopath isn't in the picture unless the 'perfect' one magically appeared.

I don't know if this would work for anyone but it's been doing ok for me. Being without cigarettes scares me still. I ended up buying a RYO kit (hand thingie, tubes and tobacco) for $18. Now when I want a cigarette I have to "work" for it. It's been kind of a nice compromise because I think the tobacco doesn't have all the additives and I don't feel like I'm supporting BT either. It's been a low pressure way to reinforce vaping.

Sheeesh! Take a night off for rest & you guys take off like a bullet!
However, I see all is well:D

My list of physical ails in unending. Yes I get called a phony, drama queen, bla bla. Then 1 medicine backfires and I am totally out of whack. I hear you loud and clear. I thank God my doctors knew me and tolerated me well. I had an in law that had back pain. most drs dismissed her as a drug addict. She ended up getting a cage over her spine. remained in pain for years and no one listened or believed her. Eventually she committed suicide. I am glad you are so honest Aikanae1

That's so sad about your IL Lori, why why must doctor's be so superior & hardheaded:confused:

I have pg based wta here you are welcome to

Isn't she just the sweetest thing?

Grrrrr. I invite people to this thread all the time! People on other threads in this forum are so sarcastic and superior. I know I can't go running around slapping people, but I really want to!!

If I wanted to fight every time I posted somewhere, I would put a link to this thread in my signature!

I'm so glad we have this little island of tranquility to escape to when a good slapping just doesn't cut it!

Repeat after me: Avoid controversal Threads, avoid controversal Threads ...

I'd say do it! The thing I hate seeing when someone is struggling is "You have to really want it", or "You just have to STOP and not smoke any".

Well, duh!! People are expressing that they DO want it and they CAN'T stop...and they're looking for help. sheesh!!!

I know, it's sad, we all came here in the first place due to a desire to stop smoking. (well, okay, not all of them obviously, but most).

This is the only thread I read on ECF right now.

It only takes one person to start a revolution.

LOL! Guess it doesn't take you long then huh:unsure:

Lori, you are not condescending to a struggling vaper, so no slapping required.

The thread that has set me off this moment is in the general e-smoking forum. Honestly though, why the lecture? "You obviously don't intend to quit smoking, you can't just come here for sympathy, I can't support your statement that you can't afford to vape if you can afford to buy cigarettes. . ." ad nauseum. People with thin skin will just leave the forum altogether. Is that support?

I don't think I have "thin skin" but there are some threads out there that I just avoid, I'm not the kind to jump in an unpleasant situation if I don't have to ... and I have LOTS of better choices here:) You guys for one:)

As long as the misunderstanding is cleared up, it's good....God I hate conflict, especially when it's totally unnecessary!

Ahhhh....I feel better already, I hope you guys do too.

Me too! Hate hate conflict  will run a mile to escape it:facepalm:

Know what? I've noticed (weirdly) that the more time I spend on ECF, the more I want to smoke! Figure that one out if you can...

I'm just a rugged individualist, I guess...

Well get over it!!! Don't you dare leave the forum:grr: I for one would miss you terribly!!!

Oh gee, I always do that!!!

 Oh Cags, would you stop that!:grr: We love you & Lox is just a big ole teddy bear, those are not "growls" you hear; he's just a protective sweetheart.

... Those people who fuss about "how are you buying cigarettes" have never bought a $10 carton in their lives, and probably have no idea how taking $50 out of a very tight budget feels...

Much less $4.00 a carton which I seem to recall paying for my first. Probably a few minutes after I got my drivers license to prove I was over 16.

Looking at that thread, I agree: the tone seems a bit unhelpful.
