Hullo folks! I've been a smoker for 23 years. Started vaping fairly recently as a way to cut down. I started out with no intention of quitting completely, though it just might happen anyway. I tend to chain smoke when I'm on the PC. Now I'm chain vaping instead. Noticed a lot of folks are sharing their stories so figure I'll give a bit of background.
Started smoking 23 years ago, as I've already said. I actually enjoy the flavour of cigarettes. I also enjoy clove cigarettes and the Camel Exotic Blends which have long been nothing but a memory. Cigs are up to $12-18 a pack here so we started rolling instead. I'm very bad at rolling and I hate it. I find that I don't really enjoy a rolled cig, no matter what tobacco/tubes I use. The entire process just puts me off. My husband brought home some cheapo vaping device he picked up at Shell (with bleh juices). I thought.. Neat idea, horrible execution. I then started doing a bit of research...
Picked up the Innokin Cool Fire 1 a few weeks ago. I actually like it but my husband wanted it BADLY. I stopped off at Epic Haze (local shop) to pick up some juice I special ordered. They have a tester bar set up. I came to realize quickly that I prefer the Vision Spinner/E-Smart BBC setup they use to test. A few hundred dollars later and we're both happy.
Juices were a major problem. After much (expensive) trial and error, I finally came up with perfect mock Sampoerna Classics, Camel Exotic Blends Mandalay Lime, and Camel Exotic Blends Twist flavours. There really should be "will drain bank account" warning labels on juices.
I do have a bit of advice for other newbies:
For juices, visit as many local shops as you can. Many will allow you to sample their flavours. Don't impulse buy the first one you like. You may like another better elsewhere. Keep a list of the juice/shop names and prices. This can be a huge help when figuring out what all to purchase. Also if you like a flavour but it's too weak, ask if they can strengthen it. Some shops will work with you to get you exactly where you want to be.
If you have nothing, visit local shops. Try out and check out whatever they use for testing. If you find you're really happy with the amount of vapor and the flavour you're getting, go for it. If you want more explain to them. They can likely help you find exactly what you're looking for. If price is a problem mention as much up front.
If possible, use different tanks for different flavours. If you have it in your head that you'll own one tank and just switch flavour when you run out - forget it. No matter how well you clean a tank there can and will likely be some residual flavour. This can have a negative impact if you're new (it did me, that's for sure). If you plan on using a lot of different flavours it may help to go with a pen-like battery/cheaper/disposable cart/clearo combo.
